Overview​

We are seeking a talented Java or Kotlin developer to join our dynamic team. Our team comprises a group of 4 longstanding friends who have known each other for ~10 years. We have previous server ownership and development experience. Our project has been in progress for around 2 years, with a lot of work completed already. The project is a custom game mode modelled around the competitivity from the “factions” game mode blended with an MMORPG.

We have had work completed already, but our current developer stepping away from the project to pursue other opportunities. As a result of this, we are looking for somebody who will be capable of picking up from where he has left off. As a developer, you should have high availability and be willing to stick with us for a long period. As a developer, you will play a vital role in creating and elevating our player experience through plugin development. Our team requires current and up-to-date feedback as often as possible, asking questions and raising queries as frequently as possible. Additionally, weekly meetings to discuss progress, alongside conducting reviews and explaining upcoming tickets is a requirement for us.

Requirements​

  • Proven experience using Java or Kotlin, with a preference for Kotlin.
  • Strong understanding of the SpigotAPI (1.20+) and previous experience in Minecraft Plugin Development.
  • You will need to be open to undertaking complicated world manipulation projects as this is a large part of our server.
  • Experience using various data storage technologies such as MongoDB (or Couchbase), Redis, and JSON.
  • Familiarity with Maven or Gradle.
  • (Preferred) Experience using Bitbucket for version control in conjunction with Jira.
  • (Preferred) Experience using Jenkins or CircleCI for managing development pipelines.
  • Great communication skills and the ability to contribute effectively within team meetings.
  • A proactive and creative mindset with a willingness to contribute ideas to enhance the overall server experience.
  • Commitment to high availability, ensuring continuous improvement and stability of our development projects.

Responsibilities​

  • Build and maintain projects using Maven or Gradle.
  • Develop plugins using Java or Kotlin, leveraging the Spigot API (1.20+).
  • Utilise MongoDB (or Couchbase), Redis, and JSON for effective data storage.
  • Work with an agile approach to project management using Jira, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of features.
  • Employ Bitbucket for version control, aligning with our system for pull requests and issue control via Jira.
  • Contribute to documentation using Confluence to ensure comprehensive and accessible knowledge sharing amongst the team.
  • Manage, view, and configure development pipelines using Jenkins or CircleCI (preferred).
  • Actively participate in meetings, contributing to a collaborative decision-making process.
  • Embrace a team-oriented approach and work closely with other team members.
