I am currently seeking a developer for the creation of a Minecraft 1.8 server. I would like to make a few items clear from the start... if you do not meet the requirements or are unwilling to dedicate large amounts of time to this project, this role is not for you.

As for payment, I will only discuss this via Discord but you will be compensated in some way for your work, direct payment, % of server sales, etc. (This is dependent upon the person).

About Me
I have been in the Factions community for well over seven years and have been staff and a player on countless servers. For a more detailed look into my credentials please refer to my resume which is attached.

Requirements
  • You must be prolific with Java/Kotlin and Spigot API
  • You must have an understanding of the factions game mode (more the better)
  • You must have a basic understanding of servers such as CosmicPvP, Minecadia, etc. (more the better)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must speak fluent English
  • May not be part of a "team"
  • May not be committed to any other projects
  • Willing to complete 90%+ of all development tasks in Minecraft 1.8

Sub-Requirements
  • Creative
  • Willing to come up with new ideas
  • Skills other than just Java/Spigot API development
  • Must be willing to work on some plugins that are already finished (Using the source of the plugins that have been worked on by past devs)

Project Basic-Info
(10) Plugins Total
  1. Enchantment/armorsets Plugin (source 75% done and bug testing)
  2. Holy White Scrolls (source 75% done and bug testing
  3. Mask Effects + Mask Plugin (source 75% done and bug testing)
  4. Talismans (Similar to a star item)
  5. Special items (Golden Knife etc)
  6. Outpost Effects (Using F-Kore API)
  7. Strongholds
  8. ./PvP (./1v1) (Cage Matches)
  9. Jackpot
  10. /Settings
Finished Plugins that just need bug-testing
Core Plugin (source)
F-Banner (source)
Combat Tag (source)

I have a much more detailed written plan that goes through each unfinished aspect of the server (in the form of a Google doc). I am only willing to share this via DM's on Discord if you're interested in the project.

I am currently seeking a partner in the creation of a Minecraft 1.8 server. I would like to make a few items clear from the start... if you do not meet the requirements or are unwilling to dedicate large amounts of time to this project, this role is not for you.

As a further preface, my role on the server would be one that would pay for hosting, server store, domain, etc. Moreover, the other responsibilities of the server that are nondevelopment would also fall into my hands. However, this does not mean you are not allowed to help out but it is by no means a requirement.

As for payment, I will only discuss this via Discord but you will be compensated in some way for your work, direct payment, % of server sales, etc. (This is dependent upon the person).

Finally, I want to make it understood that this server is not a "test-server" of any kind. Instead, it will be unique.

Server Info
Things we do have:
  • Logo
  • Documents
  • Discord
  • Bare bones version of the server (Including large parts of it already finished: builds, terrain, all configs, etc.)
  • Host
  • Domain
  • Wine Spigot

The server still requires a large amount of plugin development. However, I have a detailed written plan that goes through each unfinished aspect of the server (in the form of a Google doc). I'd only be willing to show parts of this server, for obvious reasons, as they in great detail outline the server's custom features.

As I read through this composition, a variety of thoughts strikes my mind.

Foremost, have you gathered any quotes on the level/amount of development it is you seek? Within your post, you are offering direct payment for the work that this desired individual will perform, however that concept seems very ironic considering you are looking for a "partner". I believe that this is ironic because if you had the money to pay a developer outright, why not just do that and maintain complete equity of the server?

The other part that I do not think you did a very good job at is advertising what exactly makes this a competitive offer (posts like this are made nearly every week). Potentially, you could be asking for thousands of dollars worth of development for X% of your server. What approximate $ value are you willing to contribute to the server? It is nice that you have gone ahead and gathered so far the bare essentials for the server, but really anyone with a couple hundred dollars can do that. Just because you have a history of being a staff member on servers simply does not make it a good deal for someone to dump tons of valuable time into this project if you are not on the level of the individual you are requesting to team up with you.

Really I am making this comment to point out that from a third person point of view, this looks like one of the hundreds of attempts where individuals seek a developer to be a "partner" for their server simply because they cannot afford the insane amount of development that would be needed to make their ideas come true.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I am happy to explain things a bit more.

As for your comment on the ironic nature of direct payment vs having a partner, I think you're missing the point a little bit. As I mentioned in the post, the means of payment is up to the individual. Meaning, they can choose direct payment only and that's of no issue to me nor is it a problem of my ability to pay them. However, some may want a mix of server sales and direct payment which is also fine. So to answer your question... yes I do have the money to pay the developer outright as I mentioned in the post.

For why this is a competitive offer, it is dependent upon the person. You, for example, may think it is a generic offer while others may look at the post and my experience differently. I have intentionally not included too much information because I do not want to waste my time on someone who may not be fully interested.

I do not understand the comment about my history as a staff member and server owner. It is extremely relevant in providing a baseline for my skills, past, and ability to own a server. As for it not being a "good deal" I think the reality of just getting paid is often enough for the person to classify the deal as "good".

Again, with your last section you're missing the part of the post, "you will be compensated in some way for your work, direct payment, % of server sales, etc. (This is dependent upon the person)." I say direct payment is an option if that is what the person desires. I also state they can only be involved in development or be heavily involved with the other aspects of the server, "Moreover, the other responsibilities of the server that are nondevelopment would also fall into my hands. However, this does not mean you are not allowed to help out but it is by no means a requirement." They can act as just a developer or something more both are fine and clearly outlined in the post...

It is also quite the assumption to say someone cannot afford something based on nothing. Anyways... I hope this clears things up for you.

I appreciate your well written & professional response, I sincerely thank you and wish you best of luck.

I did not intend to come across as saying you could not afford the payment, I just wanted to illustrate how I felt a majority of people would take it.
