Everyone has had the experience where someone is using a black text color in the shoutbox and nobody can read what they are saying.

Alas there's no solution without limiting peoples' freedom of choice of colour :(

Yes and no. It is technically possible to change text color based on background color however I think how XF handles custom color styles would limit this ability, I haven't tried it so can't confirm. XF sets the color attributes as an inline style format therefore, the HTML has the highest priority over the stylesheet.

I can look a bit more into this and see how this would play out. I believe it's possible but there's no knowing without trying...

When people have their own specific colours they want to use - and it's altered based on theme, it defeats the purpose. For colours like #FFFFFF and #000000, yeah I get your point, but it kinda kills it too because then you have to do it for every other colour.

If someone has their colour set to something purposefully unreadable to inhibit other peoples ability to use the site, then they will be warned. In most cases when someone is using full black or full white it is because they are unaware and quickly fix the issue when they're told. I don't think this warrants custom development at this time to implement a half-measure solution.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
