Hello,

I'm not sure how the community would feel about this, but due to the backlog of scam reports, we should at least have an option to inform the community about a scam (or attempt to do so) since it currently takes 2 months for a report to even be approved, it essentially isn't even worth creating scam reports for anything that isn't a huge amount. Other forum sites that are just as large (if not larger) have successfully implemented this with no downsides and it functions effectively. I feel as if this would at least somehow allow the avarage user to inform the community of someone scamming out to stop them from scamming out even more during the 2 or so month time period it'd take to accept the scam report.

Feedback and additions are welcomed and appreciated, as long as they're constructive.

Just redo the way people submit scam reports. Let them open scam reports but make them publicly posted even before staff allow, then let people comment on them freely without staff review. Not sure if that's a good idea tho.
No, then frivelous scam reports can be made solely for the purpose of slander. A community alert would mean less than a scam report but still serve the purpose of informing people of the incident

Maybe just do a community alert when it's $50+?
so people that got scammed for $20-25 don't matter? there's a reason scam reports aren't prioritized by amount

What about people that get scammed for $5-20? First you say that it's not worth an alert when people get scammed smaller amounts but then you say it is. I'm confused.
I said "it essentially isn't even worth creating scam reports for anything that isn't a huge amount" as it would take 2 months or more to approve.

scam reports are not equivalent to community alerts

There shouldn't even be alerts. That would get annoying really fast.
did you even read the thread? Community alerts is supposed to be a subforum where people can make posts about the person who scammed them as well as providing proof in leu of scam report times being ridiculous. Not a mass alert to all members when a scam report is accepted

Agree. People should be able to put community alerts on people. If you say people scam you will get yelled at here by faggots like Carstonia and neg repped.
this isn't the thread for you to bring your personal drama, that belongs in the reputation system and in private messages. thanks

You are essentially asking for a slander forum. The amount of good that will come out of a forum specifically made to tell about all that someone did wrong is far less than the amount of damage many will experience from those who are out to lie, and slander others. "Expose" threads get removed for a reason, why would we want to open the platform to a full section for them?

Considering the backlog of scam reports and people accused of scamming in 2 month old reports still responding to them and getting banned, this isn't a bad idea. There are scammers amidst and the reputation system isn't taken seriously enough to use it as a way to inform others of a potential scam.

The backlog is significantly better than it was a few months ago now, so I don't feel like this is necessary.

Even at the time this was created it wasn't necessary. Moderation with allegations like scam reports is extremely important, and I don't want for us to allow people to slander others in posts like that.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
