Hello MC-Market,

So more recently in the community I've noticed and influx in the amount of "kiddie hosts" as I'll refer to them. By this, I mean hosts that start up, last a few months then disappear with your money and don't provide you with a service. More recently, several reputable hosts have made the poor decision to follow in the footsteps of these kiddie hosts leaving a decent sized gap in the market. With this all said, I present my idea and request feedback.

Currently, I have an entire system in place and under way if I were to ever choose to follow through. I have a dedicated support team by my side ready and willing to help with this project as well. I present to you, truly unmetered hosting. So the concept revolves around a single plan, and "unlimited" plan. The amount is automatically adjusted in accordance to plugin, player, and even mod count as well as the usage of your CPU and average RAM usage. The system is also fully automated unlike other "unlimited hosts" which require you to submit a ticket for an increase of RAM or slots.

With this in mind, what do you, the community, think about this? If you have concerns, leave them below. If you're interested in learning more, send me a PM with your Skype and we'll advance from there. Any feedback is welcome, positive or negative.

Regards,
Kiwi

Seams like a great idea. Could lower the amount of reserved ram that is not ever used whenever host assign 10Gb. Fantastic idea! Cant wait to see what comes out! c:
In full theory, it can do a lot more than just that. If the system behind everything functions properly, you'll never need to worry about how much RAM a server is using as everything will fluctuate.

I totally think this is a great idea with the fluctuation of RAM but what if one server hogs all the resources from the other servers thus it being unmetered. I personally would still use this system but not offer Unlimited RAM.

Well the way around this is you limit the amount of clients per server. What I've personally looked into was a few 64GB machines (specs to be released later) that I'll be colocating in a local datacenter. This'll cut down on cost which leaves room for money to re-invest into more hardware to grow the company. Basically you could sell 10 spaces on a server. The average shared server uses no more than 6-8 GBs of RAM at a given time. 6x10 is 60. Say the colocating fee per unit is $75 and you sell at $15 / plan. If you do the math, $15 * 10 is $150. You're making serious numbers and the client receives a truly quality service.

If there's a large interest, I may be contacting several hosts about partnering up somehow to make this a thing.

Is this an advertisement thread for your upcoming host or are you trying to get feedback if people would buy it? I'm not sure what real "concerns" you would get from members here. How much would you charge for said "unlimited everything minecraft hosting"?
I may be bias, I never saw the point of unlimited everything with game hosting.

This is merely seeing the community would find an interest in a fully automated service, not an advertisement just yet. However from the poll above, it may become an advertisement within the next few weeks, everything depends on the community's interest.

For this "unlimited hosting" though, it'll cost around $15-$20. I'm still currently in that field where I'm attempting to see what a client is willing to pay for this service.

The only reason for unlimited hosting in my opinion is because of the obnoxious limits I used to find with my server. The moment you reach your optimal player base I found myself needing to upgrade my package then downgrade it when it sloped downwards. This merely makes it simpler and creates a single fixed rate.

I'll be updating the original post with some additional features that'll be offered if I follow through with this idea. For now, I'm just seeking community feedback like previously noted.
