Someone please give me a clean and detailed definition of what a Community Manager does on a Minecraft server. Don't reply to this thread with "They manage the community and staff team" because I know that. But what they exactly do.

Thanks in advance,

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

What a community manager does on the server changes based on what the owner of the server needs to be done. In some cases a community manager would just be there to handle events, or in other cases they could basically manage the entire server. Are you asking for a list of duties that a community manager could do on a server?

For me it is just someone who will interact with the community and set up events so that the community can be closer to each other.

Yes, what possibilities or duties can a Community Manager have?

Looking at what community managers say are their duties in the recruitment and staff forum is probably your best shot.

On her thread, Kyonei said her duties as a community manager would be:

Promoting and demoting helpers as needed, promoting them to moderator if they meet the criteria for handling more duties.

Front page announcements on the forums.

Buycraft support, donation problems and so on.

Team meetings, usually once a month or as needed.

General administrator duties as well. (Banning players, player reports, ban appeals and so on)

Events for players on a basis.

External social media posts. Such as Twitter and so on.

Pretty much what Mick said, whatever the owner(s) don't have time to do such as doing events on the server, managing the servers twitter (posting announcements, giveaways etc), managing the staff team, doing buycraft support, forwarding suggestions, keeping the community happy. Just things in general that an owner wouldn't really have time to do.

Alright, thank you very much.
In my opinion a manager runs the server in the owner's stead. That includes all things relating to staffing, decisions regarding factions, being on to help players, coach staff to do their jobs. It's not just setting up events, an admin or mod can come up with those ideas, a manager is the go to for the team, and to relay things in simple terms to the owner of what needs fixed, what the community wants, what the staff need. To be a good manager you need to be firm yet understanding and the ability to be online at any real given moment to lead your team and have the owner's ultimate trust in your ability. I know you asked what their duties were and I gave you way too long of a post but this is something I'm passionate about so I do apologize for the long read.

Thank you very very much! This thread helped me really to understand what a Manager and Community Manager is. No need to apologize for the long thread! Thanks a lot.
