Introduction


Hey! My name is Danny and I am the owner of AMComputing, A service to fix your Adware, Malware and Virus needs. I am creating this thread today to seek community response for my idea and if accepted, Partners/Investors for the server. Please note at the moment I have not made any start to this server, I am here to present as well as to ask for Funding. The sections in this post will be: Introduction, The Main Idea, Game modes, Leaderboards, Forums, Ranks/Buycraft, ‘wtl’ ELO system, Pricing, FAQ, Personal Funds and Contact. The Main Idea


Basically the main idea is to bring a competitive scene to Minecraft. Some may argue that this already exists, in many ways it does but I believe my idea is unique and will shock the Community. This will be in the form of a server consisting of PVP. There are many practise servers already released, but none have the same uniqueness and appeal then mine (Accept MineHQ and Arcane I would say personally). More details about the Server will be stated throughout.


Game Modes


The server would be a spin on 1v1 servers, with 3 main kits: Debuff, NoDebuff and Soup. I know team fights with the Soup kit may be hard when it’s multiple people on one person, all OG’s saying there a god souper, lets see! This is an attempt to revive the Soup community, personally I loved playing Soup and I miss how it was. Please note that Game modes aren’t fixed and if the community want more, I will certainly consider adding them. Debuff and NoDebuff are quite self explanatory and there reasoning for being picked is there links to HCF and popularity. There would be 4 game modes: 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 (Subject to change). In order to compete in 3v3’s or 5v5’s, your team would need to register through Forums and at different times in the day there would be held 3v3 and 5v5 matches. This is not certain though because there is limited ways to notificate players of these fights, maybe a set time could be implicated. 1v1’s and 2v2’s will both be queable as well as ALL of the game modes having a 1 month ‘Map’ if you say.


Leaderboards


Linking to my custom ‘Wtl’ ratio idea, Leaderboards will add to the competitive aspect. People who finish in the top #3 in their respective gamemode will either receive Paypal or Buycraft. It will be ordered from the high-low ratio and will span over a month before being reset. Leaderboards will be viewable in game and on the Forums, as well as personal player details. Players who win a season, have a ‘*Star’ added to their username so they can pursue in some flexing ;). This will also be added to their Forums account. Before results being finalised, we will double check ALL wins to make sure they are legitimate and no cheating has took place. If so the player will receive a IP Ban and all stats being swiped.


Forums


The forums will be the hub for active players to: Apply for staff, leave suggestions for the server, talk with other players, request access for 3v3’s and 5v5’s, Find a team for 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5’s and other services. The main use would be to view the Current Leaderboards as well as personal information about a player like Wins, Losses etc.


Ranks/Buycraft


To begin with, there would be only one unban purchasable at a decent amount to prevent cheaters but give them ONE last chance. The ranks would span from Tier 1-Tier 3.

Purple Name In Game

Access to /Leaderboards

Tier 3- No Name As Of Now

Red Name In Game

Access to /Leaderboards

Access to /seen

Access To /arena (Choose Arena For Fights)

‘RANKNAME’ Icon in Teamspeak

No Chat Cooldowns

Highest Queue Priority

ANY Customizations On The Forums



Wtl Elo System


There would be no elo system, instead a ‘kdr’. This is a kill to death ratio but it would be named ‘wtl’ wins to losses. The higher your ratio, the harder matches you fight and it determines how high you will finish on the Leaderboards. For example, player ‘Convivial’ finished on a 2.6wtl ratio and finished #2 on the Leaderboards when player ‘Toughest’ finished #1 on the Leaderboards with a 3.5wtl ratio. If a player had won 4 matches but Lost 2 matches in ‘1v1’ he/she would have a 2.0wtl ratio. If they had Won 6 Matches and loss 12 matches in ‘3v3’ the player would have a 0.5wtl ratio only in that respective game mode.


Pricing


To make this server, acquire art, a website, Buycraft, Advertisement, Custom Plugins and Youtubers I expect the price to be at $1500 or less. No one can put a price on making a server, it’s so crazy. For example I once put $1000 into a server and it didn’t even realese, but when I put $200 it reached a solid 10-15 Playerbase.


FAQ


How Will This Benefit The Community?-


I believe the community needs an actual competitive game mode. People may argue that they play the game for other reasons/play it casually and that's fine, It’s not like anyone is being forced to play on this server. It’s merely just an idea at the moment anyway.


How Will You Fund The Server?-



Details about my personal funding will be listed in the next section of the thread.


Do You Have Any Graphics/Proof Of This Server?-


Like I have stated throughout, this is an IDEA. I have nothing at the moment, but if it receives good reviews I will begin this project.

Personal Funds


As I stated in the beginning of the thread, I am the owner of a newly found business ‘AMComputing’. I am in the process of buying a website and have already bought graphics. Infact I have already had 2 orders in the space of 2 days without a Website! I currently also deal with Minecraft Accounts as a fun hobby and have sold 2 accounts and I have 2 accounts waiting to be sold. Despite this, this isn’t enough to own a successful server as many of you know, also I don't even know if it will be successful. My solution? Make this thread and if it goes down well, begin the project and also look for potential investors!

The W/L ratio seems flawed. If I play 15 matches and win all I get a 15W/L ratio. If I play played 160 matches, I would need to win 150 of them to get the same ratio. Therefore people would abuse this and bring in new accounts, play maybe 30 games and win as many as possible, and then their W/L ratio would not be compete-able for players who have played almost 1000 matches. So you will not have a steady player-base of players staying in the server, but more people coming on alts and such, which does not equate to a easily run server as it becomes harder to manage who is who (I.e who is ban evading).
Also how do you intend to check if someone didn't cheat in any of their games. You would need to either rely on an anti-cheat or your staff to ensure no cheaters could get on the network, and when a cheater was banned then their elo should be swiped.

I understand completely about the 'W/L', thinking about it thats completely right. That's my bad, maybe an ELO system is the best way to go. Also, what I meant by cheating in games is if they were contentiously playing against the same person or a player on the same ip and so on, like cheating the ELO system

Why not just implement a random pairing system then, so they don't choose who they are put up against.

May as well just play MineHQ or PvPLounge
MineHQ is similar like I said and I believe it is a great server, PVPlounge? The last time I checked the server was dead and people were complaining to me about how bad the hit detection/Kb was, also you have to pay to even play the server.[DOUBLEPOST=1501600462][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yes that is what will happen, but still players could 1.) have a smurf account and boost there elo, then queue at around the same time and sometimes find there alternate account 2.) Ask players to throw matches for ELO etc
