It is utterly confusing to me as to why someone with any degree of intelligence would decree that giving a community consisting of mainly white children the ability to create someone's reputation for someone a good idea.

There shouldn't be an 'Other' option, because going by the theory of that I could say 'this user swore at me and I do not like that therefore I will -rep him'. So that -rep for me now impacts my trading ability. How the fuck can me swearing at someone be the base of my trading and trustworthy reputation?

Instead of having an 'Other tab' there should be a 'Complaints tab'. Instead of -rep for toxicity or someone not sharing the same beliefs as you then you would choose complaints and instead of showing up red it would show up as orange. This lets users know that he may be a bit toxic or hard to handle or whatnot but he isn't a scammer.

TL;DR ONLY USE +REP OR -REP FOR AN ACTUAL TRANSACTION. IF SOMEONE OFFENDED YOU IN 2017 YOU USE A COMPLAINTS BUTTON

I think the 'Other' tab is used for like middlemanning deals and trading. Not totally sure but I do think this has been the best solution to fixing the reputation system I've seen so far.

Your reputation doesn't just mean your 'trustworthiness', and it isn't intended to.
If you were a scammer, you would be banned.
Reputation reflects everything about you, such as smoothness of transactions, your ability to communicate properly, how easy-going you are to talk to, how nice you are to others, your patience, your understanding...
A lot gets said about your character when you communicate with other people of our forums.
And your character is what every user is going to have to deal with if they attempt to do a trade with you.

That's why even those who haven't dealt with you can have useful input on your attitude.
Trades are between human beings after all.

Simply put... No points based system will ever be able to determine someone's level of trust.
Even if we did deals only reputation, (which we can't; we tried, it was abused and removed), even if we did, someone with a bunch of rep is just as capable of scamming as any low rep member, and every low rep member is just as capable of not scamming. A 'trust' reputation would be a very flimsy and meaningless reputation indeed.

Our reputation is just straight reputation. Your reputation in the community. The impression you give everybody in general.
Those hotheaded people who've got a character which leads to countless disputes; they have bad reputation. Those who are collected and work towards understandings with the users they interact with, theirs is much improved.
It doesn't say how trustworthy they are, no, it's not supposed to.
But it does provide insight into how communicating with them, whether it be through a deal or anything else, is likely to end up between you.
Especially if you read the notes for each reputation, to see why they have the reputation they do. That's what those are there for after all.

This information is there at everyone's disposal. Use it as you wish.
