Hey there,

Today I received a warning for advertising, see here:

sIXMEbR.jpg

I thought this was a misinterpreted warning- I wasn’t trying to advertise any good or service, just make friends.

So, I appealed the warning, only for it to be denied.

In my appeal, I made the case that “Add me on Snapchat” is identical to “Add me on Discord.” If I would have said “Add me on Discord, Landon#1718// I need new friends,” I would have received absolutely no warning as sending Discord usernames is so commonplace.

So, I suggest that we consider Discords as a form of advertising social media. If a user sends their Discord in shoutbox, they should be required to wait another twenty minutes before sending their Discord again or another form of advertising (such as a thread link).

Now- I know what you’re thinking: “What the hell? This is ridiculous and not needed.” Exactly! This suggestion is horrid and should not be implemented. My goal is not to have this suggestion implemented. It is to show the hypocrisy of rule enforcement across MC-Market. The issue of different interpretations of rule enforcement has plagued the site for years, and is still an issue now. (See here).

Can we please finally get uniform interpretation and enforcement of rules and get rid of the hypocrisy?

Thanks,
Landon

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Sharing a discord link is advertising it though? What?
Have you heard of service teams? They already spam this site enough, we don't need them being allowed to flood the chatbox too.

"Add me on Discord" and "Join this cool Discord server" are two COMPLETELY different statements.

I’m suggesting we consider “Add me on Discord” as advertising. Links are already considered. Reread the suggestion, I point that out clearly with the “Add me on Discord Landon#1718.” Didn’t mention invite URLs.

Thanks for reading!

In which case, I misunderstood what you were saying.

If somebody says "Add me on Discord for <so and so>", then I completely understand, and do agree that it should be taken into consideration. However, if somebody is simply sharing their discord tag, that's fine (in my opinion).

If this is what you mean, then I completely agree.

How is saying, "add me on x" considered a product or service?
*que the staff member saying, "I'll assign this to Kram now*

edit: This may actually violate 3.4 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But I thought multiple ads was in reference to someone going, "I'm buying x" then within 20 minutes saying, "I'm selling x"
  • 3.4 Do not send multiple advertisement messages within twenty minute increments.
That’s how I’ve always seen 3.4 enforced. I know I’ve seen “keep ads on one line” please before, but I thought it was more for chat flooding than 3.4, ie:

“Selling and Buying Bitcoin//

Which in that case, I see it being multiple lines for an ad, but in my case

“Add me on Snapchat @//
I need new friends”

The second line doesn’t even advertise anything.
