I have just heard from my license provider buycPanel.com that cPanel's pricing for there license is/has increased.

For me this is going to roughly double my license costs per month. This means that I am going to be looking at alternatives and moving my hosting when my annual license expires (luckily just renewed last month). I have been eyeing up DirectAdmin as a potential competitor.

How is this affecting other users here? What affects will this have for you?

At work this is affecting us worse than my Unit 27 hosting. Our £400 per annum license cost is changing to £1300+ per annum

Thank you for the information and we are aware of the pricing change. This may affect us in the near future but our billing cycle for our cPanel licenses has yet to end. I think we will end up looking at either alternative panels or suck it up and deal with it.

I think cPanel has actually revised their pricing structure since the raise, but am not completely sure.

Thank you for the heads up! :)
That's directly from the website so if they have, I haven't seen it/they haven't updated it!

Not a problem, just trying to look out for my fellow hosts!

I do the think new pricing is going to decrease the number of customers they get. However, people will just suck it up and pay it. If you are wanting something better but cheaper Plesk would be the one to use in my opinion even if they are owned by the same company.

Businesses would suck it up if it was a slight increase yeah. But the increases are like 200 - 500 percent. I recon its going to be a huge loss of custom, id hope so anyway. Margins in web hosting are not big enough to support increases of this magnitude. It would put me out of business if i had no other option.

Id rather not support any company affiliated with the owners if they are doing that to there customers. There are so many panels nowadays it not going to be hard to find a suitable alternative imo. I did look at plesk and agree it looks like a good system, but so do systems like DirectAdmin. Im going to try a few I recon

Hello there,

Thank you for the information, I am aware of these changes already and I am maintaining regular contact with our licencing provider to ensure the most appropriate action is taken. I am currently assessing alternative control panel options (such as Plesk or Direct Admin). However, my current intentions are to continue using cPanel/WHM until further information is available regarding revised pricing from our licencing provider.

Once again, thank you for informing myself of such.
Kind regards,
Nicholas.
