Hello everyone,

Today I am creating a few forums posts and a discord to assist others in creating a successful minecraft server. This is 100% free of charge.

For the first forum post, I am looking to get a list of questions/topics that the community has that needs to be answered! Just comment below :)

THE COMMENT WITH THE MOST GREEN CHECKS WILL BE CHOSEN!

I wish I budgeted my money better.

Many times I'd find myself spending more money on graphics and shit like that than necessities like devs and plugins, and stuff like that. Don't make that mistake.. Budget accordingly!

Ha, God i made so many mistakes, Bought leaked builds, Shitty plugins and the worst of all was used a shitty host, at the end i lost everything, a few months I decided to start again and created a South African factions server which had major success, the first of its kind here and made enough money to make up for my lost a few months back

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR BUDGET IN MIND!!

So I have got a few questions, here they're.

1. How important are (good) Graphics (in the beginning of your server)?
2. How to make moderating as easy as possible for staff?
3. What makes a 'good' server 'good'?
4. Is a website needed if you start a server with a tight budget (if yes, is a forum needed)?

1. In my experience, there are two types of servers. Ones with awesome looking banners/icons and those that don't. When I actually played MC I wouldn't even look at the ones w/o the graphics because the immediate assumption was that the server is just as bad as the graphics.
In others words, I believe they're pretty important but for starting out, look for free artists or cheap ones that give decent products at a low cost. They're important but when you're just getting started, you should focus on plugin development and advertising.

2. Write a clear staff handbook that explains what they can/can't do along with what's expected of them. Also, make sure to pick your staff wisely and only take the most mature of the group. One bad staff member can ruin your server.

3. This is quite a general question but in short, make your server unique. Nobody likes a server that's just like all the others and chances are, there's a server out there that does what you do but better. Think of a new game or feature that makes you stand out.

4. No. Until you have a solid playerbase, a website is just a waste of money. Set up a Discord server and grab some people to moderate the chat. Personally, I've been on like 1 website for every 10 servers I've been on. On the other hand, I almost always join the Discord group.

Thank you very much for your detailed explanation, it will defently help me.

Thank you.
