Crypto to invest in?

I have a few friends who have some crypto, and I'm really interested in getting into it. What are some things I need to know beforehand, and what currencies do you suggest I look into buying? Been looking at XRP, is it a good choice? Thanks in advance

Now that you know that, take a look at coinmarketcap and go to each coins website that is in the top 20ish. You'll be able to read about the projects there and speculate which technologies will succeed. Stay out of crypto if you're in it to make a quick buck, you'll get burned.
