Our Java server started in 2012 and we pioneered many new game modes which are now staples of the Minecraft server community. In 2017 we became official partners of Minecraft and launched our Bedrock server offering in 2018. Overall we have seen over 30 million unique accounts join our games across both platforms.

As a team, we are all truly global. Our main base of operations is in our offices in Bury, Greater Manchester, UK, however, we have many remote team members. When looking at new candidates we look for some particular features such as:
Our Infrastructure team maintains a hybrid fleet of over 200 bare metal servers and cloud instances, totalling terabytes of RAM and 1000s of cores. We have database sizes in the terabytes and consistently push petabytes of traffic to the wider internet monthly.
Infrastructure Engineer Full Time | Remote / Office
We're looking for an infrastructure engineer to help us deploy, deliver and scale our infrastructure to handle hundreds of thousands of daily players.
This is a varied role across all parts of our technology stack and great for those wanting to improve multiple skills at a high scale

Infrastructure Engineer Full Time | Remote / Office
We're looking for an infrastructure engineer to help us deploy, deliver and scale our infrastructure to handle hundreds of thousands of daily players.
This is a varied role across all parts of our technology stack and great for those wanting to improve multiple skills at a high scale
Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage a hybrid dedicated/cloud server environment
- Automate Infrastructure ops with configuration management and custom tooling
- Design and implement application orchestration and deployment strategies
- Database administration including MySQL and MongoDB (also Influx, Elastic and Redis)
- Ensure high-quality monitoring and performance analysis of all systems
- Troubleshooting network, software and hardware issues
- Strong experience managing Linux-based operating systems (we use Debian) and scripting languages such as Bash and PHP
- Experience working with databases (Ideally MySQL and MongoD
- Comfortable using container-based workflows and tools (such as Docker)
- Basic understanding of IP Networking and protocols such as DNS, DHCP and IPv6
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines (we use GitLab)
- Competency in writing and deploying Java-based applications
- Experience working with distributed databases (e.g MongoDB replica sets, clusters; Galera/XtraDB MySQL Clusters)
- Understanding of cloud automation tools such as OpenStack, Kubernetes or DC/OS
- Proficiency in working with cloud providers such as AWS, GCE or Azure
- The difference between sharding and replication in building scalable databases
- Broadly, how a traceroute works
- Broadly, how a container runtime works

- The role sits as part of our parent organisation Digital Tree Media so the role will be involved with other projects outside of CubeCraft Games (although a large part of the role will be CubeCraft).
- This is part of the UK government apprenticeship schemes and so more stringent eligibility requirements apply.
