Custom domain for screenshots?

Hey guys,

I️ remember a while back reading this tutorial where you would have your own custom domain and then take screenshots. Instead of the link being like gayzo.com or prnts.crn or what ever it was your custom domain. I️ think I know how to do this but some advice would be appreciated. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

http://droplr.com is another service that you pay a monthly fee to get images, videos, files, text, etc uploaded. It's probably a bit more expensive than using ShareX and setting up your own server for it, but in my opinion it looks more professional and is easier to set up.

Croc's been using it for years and I'm sure he'll agree that it's great.

I can't just use a free domain to send to it? I need to own the webserver and host the domain on it too?
