Hi! My name is Shiny Doodle.

I've partnered with Bryce to create a "Two in One" shop, where I illustrate minecraft server logos/icons, and he codes custom plugins!

Some of my past work includes being one of Mineplex's main artists for server updates, and creating all of the artwork for Arkham Network's website. I've also done countless work for start-up servers, and for personal projects for other members.

Visit this link to see some of my art, prices, and contact info!

http://www.mc-market.org/threads/130935/

Commonly asked questions:
- Can I get an image for free?
Under any circumstance, no.

- Your prices are too high!
My prices adjust to time spent working on an image (which can be 3-12 hours approx), years I spent learning how to draw (7 years), and the amount of demand for my art style.

Feel free to ask any other questions

Gotta agree, your main client base is under 18 most of the time. You have to adjust to the economy. Trust me I would charge as much as you did for the time spent, and I understand because I draw, But you do realise, that your trying to charge full time prices in a community full of pre pubescent teens. At those prices, I would also expect totallydrawn level work or affluent designs, but I dont see anything of that standard, personally.

Very true say. And i am glad you are being mature about this. She has chosen the prices accordingly because it what she feels her work is worth. No reason for her to be roasted for it. If you don't feel comfortable buying it, then don't. No need to bash :S

I've been working in this economy for over a year now and I know how much people are willing to pay. Most cant afford it, but people who are willing to invest in their server will. My prices are high partially due to the fact that I need to filter out people with lower budgets, since I get too many interested clients than I can handle. I'm not new here.

I'm not lowering my prices when I get commission work just fine with my current set up :) Minecraft art is a bigger industry than you think, and I'm not going to drop down to the level that most people assume it is.

Dude, not cool to bash someone's art.
Chill.
Even if it's your own personal opinion, is it even relevant to what she wants to do? Plus- You have no influence. You words hold no value over her/him(?)

I mean jeez- Several hours-Let's say 5 hours. Maybe 12 for a full on drawing. $200 bucks. $16 an hour.
WAY lower than the average pay.

Not seeing the big deal with the prices. Pretty similar to the prices of other minecraft artists I've seen around including myself. She isn't exactly charging big bucks for the service she's providing.

And she's FINE with it (I'm just gonna say she because of the icon)
She did that on purpose.

Would have changed the prices by now if she felt threatened m8- Plus she just stated that she ain't dropping her prices

And lol- I don't think that's ALL you said.

SketchBug, so you charge for the 'years you spent learning how to draw', even though that has absolutely nothing to do with your customers?

Although it might not be evident on the surface, it does have things to do with customers. Skills and fundamentals- practicing, trialling, refining and everything else to build a style to the point it is today and why it appeals and sells to clients. You're paying for a lot more than just a product if you look a little deeper, that surface price isn't directly dependant or affected by an artist's time spent behind the scenes, that price marks the quality and also her belief and pride in her own work. If you're only looking at art as a method to make bank, that's disappointing.

How much do you think Hypixel's logo cost?

At those prices, I would also expect totallydrawn level work or affluent designs, but I dont see anything of that standard, personally.

Don't think I've read anything more rage inducing than this- especially for someone who claims he's an artist as well. We're not here to bash each other, it's a support network of people who have a shared, similar passion.

Mate, we don't compare artists. Every artist is unique and their style belongs to them. Whether you like it or not, that's personal taste so keep that shit out if you don't know what you're talking about. Liza, from what I've seen has quite sturdy fundamentals and her level of work is no lower than your listed individuals. We all have things we could work on for sure, but downing someone like that is plain rude. If you still have not a clue what I'm speaking of, here's a visual, side to side sample of works:

Artists can charge whatever they want. If people don't like the prices, they can deal with it and find someone else but there are often a few factors as to the reason people have prices as so. Liza has stated hers but I'll throw in this one to justify her prices as well: Demand and experience. Liza has worked with various large minecraft networks, and whilst most of us would be lucky to get 1 or 2 jobs from those that are known, she's had a consistent roll of recognition which shows that she's a) got the demand and b) She has consistency in her quality of work which is recognised by those who know what they want.

For a final point, I'll remind you all that people buying art may be "pre-pubescent teens", but these teens are the same people running $1000 networks. Artists are the ones who assist in the brand and overall, this is quite a small investment for something that can become so successful.

Don't let the people get you down Liza, you're great.

  1. Says the one that thinks art of a block game is worth thousands pal.
Really? Huh, I guess that my surface book is just imaginary, as there's no way that minecraft art could've paid for this...

Either way, charging for a choice that SHE made that has already been done isn't worth charging. That's like telling me to charge my customers $100 for a doodle because I've been learning how to draw for 9 years.

I wrote that in an aspect of judging skill. The amount of years I've been taking classes and studying art in school feeds into my skill. If a client doesn't care about it, he can make it himself and get a derp logo made in paint.

The years also don't put some extra specific percentage on my price, I just heighten them when I deem myself to have improved. I wouldn't have used the prices that I had 6 months ago, since the quality was considerably worse back then.

people can charge whatever they want and they don't have to abide to a certain pricing "guideline". I find her prices certainly reasonable and other people clearly think they are as well because she has been very successful in the Minecraft art community...

Yeah not a single drawing lmao and btw bad choice of tablet.

I've had one commission pay for the majority of my 2000$ wacom companion drawing tablet (I earned 1700$). You talk about how I don't understand the community, but I'm making profit just fine. Come back to me when you've learned how to draw and did mc art commissions for over a year.
