Information:

So CynicalMC is now looking for staff, we are a professional brand new community and we are getting plenty of new players daily, i have big plans for this server so i want a highly respectful and active/dedicated team to handle the server. As of right now we have tons of Romanian people join so if you know that language it will help tell them to speak English and such (Hired Romanian youtuber who said they will speak English but turns out not too but theres tons who join and are active so i mean we just gotta keep warning and muting/notifying them to only speak English.) The server is very high quality and i have spent well over a thousand dollars on it, i am planning on expanding soon as well. The highest the server got too is 50 players when my youtuber was streaming other then that seems like anywhere from 5-25 players since then. There is only a few things left to fix on the server which should be done soon but besides that everything is running fine. Also asking in game or begging for staff will get you 0% chance to get staff.

Server Information:
Website Portal (Completely Custom): http://cynicalmc.net/
Forums (Still being setup): http://cynicalmc.net/Forum/index.php
Buycraft Store (Completely Custom): http://store.cynicalmc.net/
IP: play.cynicalmc.net (Its up if you would like to check it out)

CynicalMC Staff Application

IGN:
csPsycho_

Name:
Cody

Age:
18 (7/17/1998)

What rank are you:
I have not purchased a rank from the store.

Timezone:
Eastern Standard Time (EST)

How long have you been playing the server:
I joined the server on 3/30/2017. I registered on the forums, and already began my exploring and grinding on the server. I have explored the commands, mines, special features, and began interacting with other members of the community.

How often will you be on:
I can provide from two to twelve hours a day to CynicalMC.

What rank are you applying for:
I am applying for an administrator position that focuses on staff/community management and support.

Past staff experience:
I have multiple years of previous staff experience. My staff experience began on Runescape Private Servers (RSPS.) The largest RSPS I was a part of was called Ikov. I started as a player support in early 2014, and I was eventually promoted to senior moderator. I helped manage over 3,000 online players across three different worlds (similar to worlds in a Minecraft network.) The staff to player ratio was usually 1:1,000 players most the time. Prior to being promoted on Ikov, I worked with numerous smaller servers with player counts between 50-300 players online at any given time. My moderator duties on Ikov included Teamspeak, forum, and server moderation. I guided staff members below me, and helped decide support promotions. I also contributed a lot of time to the Ikov public Wiki. I learned to interact and work well with other staff members as a team.

I began my Minecraft staff experience on Phantom-Prison/Phantom-MC owned by Tactic_Gamer and Corazi. The server averaged 25-50 players online, and peaked at over 150+ players during advertisement periods. I joined in October 2015, and was promoted to helper within the following month. After months of hard work and dedication, I resigned from my position as senior moderator due to working a full-time job. My latest Minecraft server staff position was on VenomPVP. I was promoted to trial-moderator after applying and made my way to moderator. The server averages 30 players but has peaked at over 100+ players within the last few months.

Why should we choose you:
Why should you choose me for staff? I am a mature, dedicated, and loyal member of the Minecraft community. I have a decent amount of previous experience, and I have a good Minecraft ban history. I enjoy interacting within the community and staff team. I am active on Skype, Discord, and have alternative emergency contact methods. I have a decent quality microphone too.

Situations (Pick at least 4 different situations on what you would do in that situation):
I want to note that without reviewing an official rules and punishments thread, it’ll try my best to explain four different situations.

Situation #1
A player claims he's donated, and is upset he did not receive his rank/perks. He rages in the public chat and threatens to charge back if he doesn't receive his purchase.
~
I would privately message the player attempt to calm them down. I would explain to the player charging back their payment isn't a logical option. I would assure them their situation will be handled accordingly. From my past experience I usually redirect the player to the forums so they can post a donation support thread. Once the thread has been posted on the forums I would notify any staff member who can handle donation support.

Situation #2
A new player connects to the server and instantly starts advertising other server IPs.
~
Depending on the punishment guidelines I would handle this situation differently. Assuming advertising is a permanent ban/mute, I would punish the player accordingly.

*If a dedicated player was caught mentioning/advertising another server IP I would handle the situation differently. I would message the player privately, and explain to them advertising isn't allowed. I would give them an official warning, and keep a close eye on their chat activity.*

Situation #3
A player is hosting a rather large drop party. I check their inventory and see it appears they have duplicated items.
~
This situation could be handled multiple ways depending on the circumstances. If it's obvious the player has duplicated items I would immediately prevent them from dropping them by teleporting them to a private location. I would attempt to get them to reveal and report the bug to me or on the forums. If they are not cooperative I would immediately ban the account to prevent the items from being dropped and damaging the economy.

Situation #4
A moderator has been inactive for a week without giving any notice.
~
I would attempt to contact the staff member on Skype/Discord. I would attempt to reveal a reasoning behind their inactivity. Depending on the circumstances the staff member may be asked to increase their activity or post an inactivity thread. If the player fails to increase their activity within two weeks, they will be asked to resign or possibly be demoted deepening on the situation.

Overall Knowledge of Minecraft (Including commands):
I have been playing a variety of Minecraft servers for a handful of years across a few accounts. I have a good overall knowledge of Minecraft. I am however lacking knowledge of all Minecraft administrator commands. I'm an extremely fast learner, so learning new commands shouldn't be any issue. I have already started memorizing all the general server commands.

Any Additional information:
Thanks for reviewing my staff application. Best of luck to everyone who applies!

What rank are you: Default
Timezone: Caracas
How long have you been playing the server: March 31, 2017
How often will you be on: I can offer 3-7 hours daily.
What rank are you applying for: Whatever rank is needed to be filled although I could be more helpful in a higher rank like Admin.
Past staff experience: I've been staff in several semi-large networks. The first one was CentralNetwork in which I owned the Prison server. I maintained that rank for 6 months until the network shut due to lack of funds. I was then contacted to be the Co-Owner of another Prison server in a network called BattleRealms. I then became an Operator for the network and helped manage staff with one of the Co-Owners. I held this position until we merged with ZincBox where everyone was deranked to Global Moderator. I was GM there for a couple of months until I got promoted to Global Operator which was my rank before the merge. I was GO for 5 months until we merged yet again with Grapeapplesauce's CoveMC. Again, I was deranked but this time to Helper. I was there for about 1 month before I achieved Moderator and then a few after that I became one of the few Senior Moderators. These positions have given me a lot of experience in the staff and community managing areas seeing as I recruited staff, solved in-game issues, and was very in touch with the community.
Why should we choose you: Well as I mentioned before, I'm considered to be an excellent staff and community manager. For CynicalMC I can do many things including helping the owner in having a flawless staff system in which we only have the best of staff and the community is comfortable with them. With the community, I'm very cautious when handling immature players since they have the tendency to believe they're always right in complicated situations.
Situations (Pick at least 4 different situations on what you would do in that situation):
Scenario #1: A player claims that he's being insulted by another player, saying that it has been going on for quite some time and that only now he wants to take action. I proceed to ask the player what type of insults he's been receiving (since there are different punishments for insults, harassment, racism, sexism, etc) After that I ask the player to provide evidence (screenshots or video) of the event in which he's being insulted. This scenario can end in two ways: One, the player says that he doesn't have evidence but he SWEARS that he's been getting kicked around by the "bully". In that case I would say that without evidence there can be nothing done. Two, the player provides me with evidence and then I proceed to carrying out the punishment for insulting.
Scenario #2: There's a dispute between a staff member and a player. Apparently the staff member saw the player hacking but does not have evidence on this. The player then began to tease the staff that he's a horrible staff member and that he doesn't do anything. The staff member is infuriated by this and engages in a verbal battle with the player, which is clearly a violation in the staff rules since employees for a server should never disrespect the people they're supervising. In this case, the solution would be to take evidence on how the two people are insulting each other. The course of action I would take would be to punish the player for breaking the rules and remove the staff member from the staff team since they're also breaking one of their rules and bringing a bad reputation to the team.
Scenario #3: A player submits a thread on the forums claiming he's been wrongfully banned for "hacking" and would like to be unbanned. Usually, a staff member should take a video/screenshot of when a player is hacking so we can have evidence if a situation like this one arises. To respond to this situation, the staff then examines the ban and sees if there is evidence or not. If there is, they simply respond to the thread, "Your ban was not wrongfully executed. You were caught cheating in our server by a staff member and were also recorded to prove this is true. You will continue to be banned unless you post a convincing ban appeal." If there IS evidence, this would be the response: On behalf of our staff team, we would like to apologize for this inconvenience. There was a glitch in our ban logs and you were accidentally banned by our staff. We welcome you back to the server and hope you can forgive this unfortunate situation.
Scenario #4: There was a ban on someone for advertising and they log in using an alternate account. The action that would be taken would depend on the server rules. If the server doesn't allow alternate accounts, the solution would be to simply IP ban the player so they can no longer log in. If the server DOES allow alternate accounts, then the action would be to remind the player that he can be unbanned on his main account if he submits a ban appeal.
Overall Knowledge of Minecraft (Including commands): I know most of the plugins for groups and things like that since I spent a lot of time using them in my old staff managing days.
Any Additional information: I appreciate the time you've taken in reading this application and hope that you have an amazing day!

IGN: birkatle - havent changed it once

Name: Atle

Age: 15

What rank are you: Im currently expert, prestige 1.

Timezone: Central European UTC+01:00

How long have you been playing the server: Ive been playing on this server in about 3-4 days, but ive spent multiple hours daily since my first login. The server is enjoyable, and is my type of server. I love prison servers, and I will keep playing on it a lot.

How often will you be on: Monday to Thursday: 3-4 hours daily - Friday-Sunday: approximately 6 hours each day

What rank are you applying for (admin, mod, or helper) (Please note the
more detailed the application is the higher the chance of getting a
higher staff rank): My application is mainly aiming towards Admin, but also Mod since it is kinda similar. Mod shares many tasks with the Admin. Some examples are: Chat management, helping others, describing and understanding the rules.

Past staff experience: Ive been staff on different servers, both small and big ones. My "staff career" started 3 or 4 years ago on another prison server named "Gizmoprison". I used to play daily on that server for several months, and maybe even a year. I started with "Guard", but worked myself up to "Admin". It was an awesome experience, and I got to help a lot of people. It started getting more fun, which caused me to apply for staff on other servers. Gizmoprison had around 70-100 players all the time, which made the management and tasks a little hard when I was alone. Nevertheless, I accomplished my goals. Another server I was staff on was called "Follegg", where I recieved Co-Owner as my final rank before I stopped playing. It was a less crowded server with about 10-20 people on. It was more of a faction server, but it was fun anyway. In addition, I maintained my own server for some months. It did well, and i was able to recruit multiple staff members and design my own server with my own rules, builds, ranks and playstyle. That wasnt everything, but I chose to exclude some servers to shorten the application. Even though it would be cool to write about all of my experiences.

Why should we choose you: I think you should choose me, because of my experience from multiple prison servers. Ive played on 5-7 prison servers, and been staff on 3 of them. The rules are also memorized without a doubt, and I will help everyone who asks for it. I treat the players equally, even if they dislike me or I dislike them. Sharing my experience with others is also incredible, and my time playing minecraft has given me enough of it. Im an honest person, and will always try my best to contribute to this server with different assignments. The rank isnt just everything, and I will be responsible, help others and create a better community. The community is one of the most imporant parts of the server, and it needs people to manage it. When I play Im aware of the people, chat and things around me. This is necessary to keep things under control, and have a nice time.

I would say that im able to communicate well with other species, and also do whats necessary. I understand other people, and I would look at others opinions before judging them (If someone thinks they are hacking forexample). In addition, I can handle people that misbehaves with punishments, warnings and actions. I do what I have to do, even though it is my ally.

Abusers and hackers are some of the worst people to have on a server, which is why my main goal is to stop them. I would do everything possible to detect the cheaters, and ban them. Abusers are also a problem on servers, and it is thereafter my duty to stop them. I wouldnt hesitate to ban someone if it is needed, but it should always be the last choice. Im observant and I will therefore know when people are using exploits, glitches or if they are hacking. As always, I would try to fix the problems, or report them to the higher ranks if they are impossible for me to handle. (if it includes programming)

To summorize this, my time of playing minecraft has given me enough responibility, honesty, experience and a duty to stop the misbehaving players. The main reason im perfect for this job are my goals to fix the probems and find solutions to tasks. My mentality and mindset will help me on the way, and even though it is a small task or a huge challenge, I will always be ready to improve the server.

Situations (Pick at least 4 different situations on what you would do in that situation):

A player is accused of being a hacker multiple times:

I would try to spectate the guy without disclosing myself. I would be super aware of the things he did, and trying to look for multiple hacks he could use. If he was super suspicious, I would ban him instantly. But if it was hard to decide, I would ask him to send a screenshot of his settings, and tell him to not log out of the server. Most of the hacks have a hack-setting, and if he logged out I would ban him.

A player is bypassing the anti-spam system in chat, and is spamming:

I would give him a clear, strict warning that he shall stop immediately. If he doesnt stop, I would temp mute him. The duration would depend on how many warnings I gave him, what he wrote, and how the responded to me and other players.

Someone is being a racist, being mean, etc:

A warning from me would come immediately if I saw something inappropriate in the chat. I do not tolerate that behaviour, and I would mute him after the first warning. The duration depends on what he wrote, how people percieved it and how the misbehaving player responded.

A player has a problem with his/her permissions and asks someone for help:

The first thing I would do is to check if the player should have the permission he asks for, and thereafter handle the situation. If the person is missing a permission, I would give it to him through a command. (I dont know which command yet, because there are multiple plugins and ways of giving it. If I got Admin I would research it immediately) After that, I would doublecheck if the person's happy, and move on. If I dont have access to give other players permissions, I would contact a higher rank by the forum or a private message.

Overall Knowledge of minecraft (Including commands): The recipes are easy for me, since I've played this game for many years now. I know all the possibilities in vanilla minecraft 1.11. But I learn fast, and will understand the custom plugins fast. In addition, I know all the commands for essentials and all of the popular and most used plugins. My specialties are WorldEdit, WorldGuard, PermissionsEx and Essentials. I also know how to use them. I would call myself an above average world edit user, and know how to build structures, houses and make the life easier with it.

Any Additional information: My friends calls me a good builder, and I build a lot of houses in this game. In my opinion though, I think they exaggerate a little, but I would still call myself a decent builder. I like to challenge myself, which is maybe another reason why I apply for Admin on this server. Nevertheless, I really think this server can become a huge server. It has the potential, and I already love how the community has grown. The votes always work, and an active owner is just amazing.

Just a tip for getting people to donate: Advertise a lot, but not just by "Go donate at store.cynicalmc.net, and recieve a incredible rank" Exaggerate a lot, as long as it is true. Try to include the ranks more, and make people notice them. A way of doing that is to make special shops, vote rewards, and juicy abilities. Bait people by making it look like heaven. These are just my thoughts, and I do not mean to spread lies. Always tell the truth, but a little plus wont hurt anyone. Staff Application:
IGN:
norbix

Name: Aaron

Age: 16

What rank are you: Millionaire

Timezone: GMT

How long have you been playing the server: I joined on the 28th of last month, so only 4 days however I'm pretty sure the server has only been open for 8 days at the time of writing this.

How often will you be on: I have about 1 month until my GCSE's start, so there may be a few inactive days at that point but apart from that I can play most days, for at least 2 hours, but expect way more.

What rank are you applying for: Helper, Moderator

Past staff experience: I've played Minecraft for about 4 years now, meaning I started when I was 12. As you can imagine I've staffed a few servers to say the least. A lot of them I wouldn't personally consider most of them experiences as they barely required any particular skills. There are a few however which stick out to me.

- Manacube, formerly Minevast. My role here was based on the Creative server. I joined originally as a Build team member and later familiarized myself with the server and how the punishment system works. I then applied for the chat mod position and was later promoted to Moderator. The role consisted of many different responsibilities ranging from grading builds to moderating chat. I was staff there for a long while, I can't remember exactly how long. I left because I started to lack interest in Minecraft. (I then took a long break from Minecraft on the whole for about 6 months).

- Prison Escape / Cloud Escape. This is by far the biggest prison server I've had the opportunity to staff. Around the time I was staff the server was averaging 150-200 players. I felt that because of this I learned a lot, I was faced with many different challenges and because of how long I was there I was confronted with almost every inquiry.

This may not seem much for previous experience however a lot of the servers are just not worth mentioning or I have possibly forgotten. It's been a long while since I have last staffed a server however if I were to get denied I can ensure you now that previous experience should not be the reason.

Why should we choose you:
I don't feel as I am above any other applicant although I'm sure there are numerous qualities you search for when recruiting, so I'll list a few of my personal main strengths:

-Active and Flexible. As stated above there may be some days in the near future where I may not be active at all however on the whole I can play daily. I think that because of my timezone and where I live may give me a little bit of an advantage. I'm not sure how many staff members you have that are living in the UK or Europe but I know there have been times where the server has been at about 10-20 players with no staff. I hope that I can be there in the near future to make a small difference.

-I'm easy to talk to. I can be easily addressed with any situation and hope to take any problems in a polite manner. I would want members of the server knowing it is easy to message me with any problem.

-Mature. I love having a laugh and meeting new people but I understand when to show some maturity.

-I enjoy playing the server. May seem obvious however I want to make you aware that I'm not applying for the power, or for the sake of the staff rank. I am applying as it is a server I enjoy playing on. I want to help out as best I can, it's a striving server I want to be apart of.

- I have the experience. I know what this job will consist of and I understand the purpose and the responsibilities of the role. I will ensure that I meet them.

Situations (Pick at least 4 different situations on what you would do in that situation):

1: A player is accusing another player of hacking in the pvp arena.
First of, I would take action against the player making the assumptions if they were spamming the chat or being aggressive to other players. I would then personally pvp the suspect (I would take this approach differently if allocated more permissions, such as /vanish, etc.) making sure that I could have valid proof of the individual hacking if required. I would then take action on the player that's hacking with a temp ban or ban, depending on the severity and ban guidelines of the server. I would also make it aware to players wondering if they could get their items back when killed by him that it is out of my control and apologize for the inconvenience caused.

2: Spamming, caps, aggressive chat, etc.
I feel that this is one of the most broken rule on ever server and because of this I would like to show what I would personally do. I personally believe it is not a bannable offensive and should be taken considerably lightly. I would start by warning the user and make them aware that rules are being broken. If the user continued it would lead to a mute and possibly a temp ban. I do feel that a mute is the punishment that is most effective here as it allows the user to still play but not be an annoyance to any other play. I feel as a temp ban is only required when the user tries to bypass this using signs, or messages, etc.

3. Scamming.
I am addressing scamming in particular as it is a rule that is easily broken but quite hard to punish for. First off, I want to make you aware that no action will ever be taken on my behalf unless valid evidence is given. If a player is constantly telling people someone scammed them I would ask them how, and of what. Once provided this information I will try finding out whether the scammer has the players items, money, etc. I would then ask the player to provide proof of them being scammed via screenshots or videos. Finally, I would request the scammer to give the items back, if not action would be taken based on ban guidelines.

4. Store related problems.
I'm assuming that all store related problems will be out of my control, therefore I would tell users to make a forum post to reach the attention of higher end staff members. I would make them aware that everything will be okay and their purchases will be with them shortly. If the situation seemed pretty urgent, I would reach a staff member personally through discord or skype, etc.

As you could probably see, I always consider banning to be the last resort and only used if definitely necessary. I think that the only bannable offence should be advertising as it shows the user has no intention of playing on the server but would rather to encourage people to leave it.

Overall Knowledge of minecraft (Including commands): I stated above that I've played Minecraft for 4 years, I've learned a lot during that time. I know most things from World Edit to color codes. I'm sure that any new commands that are new to me will be learned and remembered easily. I have a very good idea of most punishment systems as most are very similar. I'm almost certain I will be able to help all members when needed, and if not I'll make sure they know what they're doing one way or another.

Any Additional information: I don't think so:)

Server went to shit when he found out he can't run a server correctly. He bans people for no reason probably the downfall of his server.
Servers been sold to Reeve Network LLC. They are revamping currently... Don't talk shit before you lookup anything
