Hi,

The marketplace was discussed before on multiple occasions. I roughly have an idea of what I'd like to see but I'm curious what the community thinks.
Since it's very likely that this will be developed from scratch, there's no "limit" to what we can do.
Here's what I have in mind:

Sellers are able to create deals with other users. When creating a deal the user enters all the info about the deal (what's included) and after that, the user submits all the required information(account info, cape codes, etc) and optionally any files(configs, server setups, etc) involved in the deal, they enter a price, and some other things. Once the deal has been created, user2 gets informed and he can either agree/deny with the deal. Once he agrees he's forwarded to the payment processor. Once payment is complete, user2 gets access to the information/files entered in the deal. After completion of the deal, users are able to leave a "review/rating" on the user's profile. You cannot leave a review/rating unless you dealt with this person. This also adds a real reputation system that's based on deals unlike the current system. After all, we're a marketplace, right?

After the deal has been completed and one of the users happen to run into a issue related to the deal, they can always dispute it. Somewhat like PayPal's dispute system.

We don't like calling things "scam reports" as on a lot of occasions things get resolved within the scam report thread.

Along with a proper implentation of a IM system, all deals could be done on-site.

Keep in mind, this is just a concept. I'm not saying anything like or something similar will be added. I'm just curious what the community things.

The purpose of this thread is to brainstorm a good system with you.

I think this would be a great thing to add to the site, as long as it was fool proof. As in, Making sure there are little to no bugs before release, and things of that sort. But I'd like to see this added, it would probably help the mcm community become a bit safer.

I think the first part won't work out well, but the IM system is certainly needed. The majority of scams seem to happen off-site on skype where it's easier to forge evidence, impersonate people etc.

What if the info was incorrect?
If the info was incorrect, scam resolvers are able to verify it all. Even though this is after the deal occurs, scam resolvers would still be able to see more about the deal than what they can see now.

Well that's why the other person has to either accept or reject the deal.

So you can see the info before paying to know if it's correct or not? lol then they'll just run off with the item.

The seller has to provide what's included in the deal. The buyer gets to see all the included things. Once the buyer pays, he actually gets access.

Issue with that would be, with plugins, it could be stolen code and or fake, with cape codes, it could be used or fake. With builds, it could be a fake schematic. People may be able to even send viruses. How would you protect against this?

However you would need to up the security so MC-Market accounts don't get breached again
Our security is just fine. Our systems were never breached.

The users need to stop using "abc123" as passwords on every online account they have.

Not the Best Solution, maybe thinking deeper and more about this new system and how would the buyer be protected.

I think it would be easier to just make an IM system and tell users to be covered by scam protection they must use MCM's IM system and not outside programs like Skype. Many sites have warning messages telling them to do all transactions on-site to be covered by buyer/seller protection. I think we should too.

What stops them from doing this currently with deals done via Skype? At least this way, scam resolvers(after the deal is disputed) are able to download the files and verify it themselves.

With everything there will be risks
Even so, this would be more unsafe if people would send viruses. There is also the concern that they can get into the site and take the content. Everything would have to be uploaded here and hosted by the site. Thus you can access it. There is little ways to avoid it, it is all URL's. This same issue happened to Nintendo a while back with 2 DLC characters for Smash, they stole the data from their cloud. Same could happen here.

There's many ways to avoid it. Currently many forums allow attachments. All of these are completely secured and can only be downloaded with a unique link. So nothing is saved like "downloadme.exe". Usually there's a hash behind it.
