Make a debate forum where people can discuss and debate serious topics that otherwise would not be allowed in General Discussion because of "the nature of the topic".

There are a lot of people here on MCM, with a lot of different opinions and views on things, and I think debates on controversial topics such as LGBTQ+, etc.., could be interesting for a lot of people.

There are of course trolls that are only there to ruin the topic, get the heat of the conversation up and make it all go to hell, so the forum has to be strict to keep replies to the topic or whatever is being discussed in the thread.

If you don't agree, please post your opinions. I love to argue, debate and converse with people so I would love to see a forum like this since I can't argue in SB ):

I know mods has stuff to do, so maybe introduce a new staff role called "Debate mod" or something. It should be a starting point like Chat mods are to the staff team, and the higher ups in the staff team can really get to see how their staff handles situations.

Honestly great idea. Should definitely be added it would actually be interesting and isn't locking us into this 'hole' where we can't say anything of a certain nature etc.

Please make this a feature.

I wouldn't suggest this. There is nowhere near enough regulations to ensure transparency.

The negative consequences could outweigh the positive such as warning points for opinions.

In concluding this is a sales forum not a debate forum, if you want to start a conversation about something go to General discussions

You can only discuss so much in General Discussions before it gets removed or locked because of "the nature of the topic". What I want is a place to debate with people that has arguments and I want to converse with them.

I know MC-Market is a market, but in my eyes it's also a large community. Not everyone is on here to sell or buy something, maybe some of them are just looking for people to chat with in the sb etc... There's so much more to MCM than just being a market.

To the people complaining about how every debate would eventually turn into insults or people hating on each other, it wouldn't be difficult to just have a system where if you're constantly insulting or hating on people in the section, you lose access to comment in the section.

Realistically, this forum isn't just MC anymore and this really wouldn't be out of the scope of the forum when you take into account everything this forum has to offer. Personally, I'd love to see the pseudo-intellectual members of this forum get fucked.

Yeah but I'm meaning that since the forum is mainly focused on being a marketplace, having a section that would likely require a lot of staff attention due to trolls, would increase the backlog substaintially, which wouldn't be good in the long run.

I mean it can just be handled through the normal report system, and eventually the reports would calm down after a lot of the trolls get weeded out in the first bit.

Good idea, would bring a lot more interaction to the community so you don't have to sit there bored.

I’d love for this to be a section on Mc-Market but the staff will never add it. They’re worried certain topics will offend users and potentially create problems down the line. I’ve suggested something similar to this in the past and it was shot down pretty fast.

Surely people here use 4chan and Reddit here. Use those. Have a circle jerk if you want or have a debate idc. MCM isn't really the place for debates for the hell of it. Sure you can do it, but nothing good comes of it. You're curious about an opinion? Make a poll. Encouraging debate on a forum that mostly has teenagers will not end well regardless of your intentions.

Debating is very healthy. We debate at our school in a controlled environment. But MCM cannot and should not be facilitating a dedicated environment for this, especially given the complaints members already have.

If you want to debate and hear the community's opinions, you can do so in General Discussions, which many people already have. I don't see much point in adding this. It would take away staff attention on more-important issues, insults and slurs would be thrown around which would need to be dealt with, MCM would have to decide on new rules and regulations for this forum.

Mick has already got enough things to deal with, as I'm pretty sure I've seen on another thread him saying that he's very busy.

I love the idea, but it poses a few issues. As said before, this is a Minecraft forum in which such forum categories would stray away from being "the #1 Minecraft Marketplace for domains, servers, plugins, hosting, advertising, websites, and services." I mean it in the name so a major change needs to happen for such generalization in forms. Also, trolls will 100% pop up. A high and more active moderation team will be needed to regulate such a section.

It would be full of idiots that would just say, "ok boomer". It's a good idea but the threads would get trashed quickly
