CPU: really anything fast and has a decent amount of cores
RAM: At least 16gb
DDoS Protection: > anything reasonable, the higher the better
Uplink: 500mbps, preferably 1gbps

Wouldn't go with this guy's recommendation. They are re-selling, it's probably OVH, and they are charging double the price. If you are going with OVH, take a look at SoYouStart(soyoustart.com), they are a subsidiary of OVH and sell dedicated servers at way cheaper prices. If you need something even cheaper, take a look at KimSufi (Subsidiary of OVH/SoYouStart) they have no phone support though.

You could also look at nocix.net, I was with them for a month, but their network is a pile of trash, not to mention they have pre-configured servers that in my case completed fucked my DNS and I had to fix it on my own as they don't help with "OS issues". And they have no DDOS protection. It's not ideal, but if you need an okay server at a cheap pricce you could try it.
