Depends on how many plugins you will have, worlds, etc
Could you specify more information?

Best Regards

How expensive for a bad cpu, low ram,
  • Intel Xeon E5-1650V3
  • 8x RAM 16384 MB DDR4 ECC reg.
  • 2x HDD SATA 2,0 TB Enterprise / 500GB SSD Upgrade $15
  • NIC 1 Gbit - Intel I210
£55

You do know that CPU's are not the only thing at play when it comes to server pricing. You could have a great server and have a unstable network making the powerful CPU useless. In reality Both CPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings of course with a few tweaks. :)

It all depends on how much server you have and what gamemode they are.
I've had 470 players on a i7-7700, 64gb ddr4, ssd dedicated server and like 40gb of ram was used.

E3-1225v5 @3.3GHz 4C/4T Turbo 3.7GHz
16GB DDR4 2400MT/s RAM
1TB SATA 7200RPM 6Gbps HDD
1 IPv4 ($5 Per IP One Time Fee)
250Mbps Bandwidth (Burst 1Gbps Unlimited)

PM me with any questions if any $70/month
And you both think he would be okay with 16gb of ram? Also SSD is required for this amount of players.

I know fully aware but he want's 500+ you will not achieve this with 16gb ram, for one and cpu will pretty sure bottleneck.

Then I'm sure you know it depends on plugins etc I've had a few clients run a couple hundred players on the server that was advertised in this post with no issue :) also ram is always up gradable. Never good to offer an overkill server when you don't have clear needed specs ;).

It depends I take it as when folks ask for a 500+ base server quote on MC-Market they usually want to build to that number so offering 16GB of ram typically is for marketing purposes but you never know what a person really needs until you speak to them.

Why shit on other companies, could've gone without quoting them. You don't need 96GB of memory for a box only meant for Minecraft with only a single 6 core CPU, no need to bottleneck the thing. Upgrading from a 2x SATA HDD setup to a single 500GB SSD setup shouldn't cost $15, should cost about the same in all honestly.

It's not shitting on look at all the other replys that agreed and you could change the 2x2 tb out for x 500gb ssds no difference but I find it cheaper to add the 2x2tb then add SSD's on
No harm meant, but only 1 person agreed with you, and they only agreed with the memory bottlecap that they might reach, and recommended a SSD. I highly doubt that the company that offered the original quote would not be able to expand from 16GB.

Debatable if they are using something like, OVH, So you start, they do not offer upgrades so then the following "reseller" could not upgrade
Considering they claim to be a colo hosting company, I hope I can doubt that they resell from them :)
