Dude guys, how bout stop giving corporations money and maybe try either hosting yourself before you get big and require a server or try a smaller organization, one that doesnt have all the money in the world already. Help another family out instead of just feeding corporations money.

How soon do you need the server? I’ve got some of these being racked in Dallas soon and might be able to work it into your budget.

2x Intel Xeon L5520 (4 cores 8 threads each)
30GB DDR3 RAM
2 x 146GB SAS drives

If you’d want slightly different specs I can likely make it happen.

Send me a pm if you’re interested.

What small companies do you suggest?

if "the bigger company" has a better cpu deal good locations and price i dont see the problem buying from it. they have a shit ton of people that have to get paid + new datacenter maintenance upgrades of software etc. most of the dedicated host or shared host resell from big companies since they are cheaper lol

The money still helps someone else out. It’s not like they are making new jobs for everyone. Also that is never true. “They have better cpu deals”. Most people today build gaming pcs and complain about speed. Why not just host it on that? Most servers on here aren’t even over 25-50 players anyways. So there is absolutely no reason to spend over $35/mo on a dedicated server if you aren’t getting a return.

Most people don't have fast enough internet for servers. And yes, hosting compaines do create jobs. Go to OVH and go to the bottom and it has their open jobs under the carrier tab. Almost every hosting company has this. They open more jobs than Wal-Mart does probably in a year if you think about all of them combined (Don't quote me on that).

Still, OVH made it's success. It's time for another success. It's how the world operates. Think about it, if one company ran everything, how world the world revolve with money? Nothing would be made, it would go to one person or person(s). Give to local communities and help out families instead of corporations that want your money. OVH is a great service but they make enough, look at their revenue $320 million. Think about it, 320 could become millionaires.

That's revenue. Not profit. And they make way more than 320 million a year. The French government pays them 100 million or so a year alone. There are tons of other companies that are cheaper than OVH (MyLoc, Wholesaleinternet, Fallout Hosting, and etc). There is so much competition that you aren't taking into account. They just have a lot of users. While we are at it, we should stop using Google and switch to Yahoo, stop using Facebook and etc and switch to MySpace and stop buying Toyota cars and switch to riding bikes, oh, and stop using Android and iOS and switch to Ubuntu phone or Windows phone. There is no issue with using a service that has lots of users. OVH is changing the word with technology and they are making energy efficiency data centers and remaking old buildings into data centers. They are the ones innovating and you want to switch to a home server that uses more energy and makes less jobs? The internet wouldn't exist without corporations.

Smaller companies probably don't want $30 for a dedicated server because they'd be losing money or almost losing money. Big corps like OVH have different expenses compared to a small host with a few racks who's trying to sell their old inventory.

With all due respect, you showed up yesterday and you're already acting like you know more about hosting than everyone else on this forum.

I currently run a hosting organization. Actual data center no reselling service. I deal with actual servers building, development of sites, system administration, some CCNA and security. Yes, I know a lot about hosting as I've been doing it for 6 years now. Thank you very much.

You've been running a datacenter since you were 10?
