Having owned many server i have a basic understanding of how servers work and how you should manage them.
These are some of the things ive learned while owning a server!

• Don't go with foreign youtubers , why? because you wont get any other language players , if they join and see everyone is speaking a random language and not english they will just leave
• Don't spend your money on random things , this might seem like a no brainer but people just spend money on their server to say they spent money , no , build up so when you need the money you can use them in big ammounts and maybe hire a big youtuber!
• Don't make your friends staff , why? because they will abuse their powers and you probably wont punish them
• Always , use minecraft-server-list.com and planetminecraft , these are really useful +they are FREE!
• Get other server owners to help you (Here!)
• Don't give people differend punishments , if a user gets a 30 day ban and another user gets a 20 day ban and the user that got the 30 day ban found out he would annoy you and give bad rep to your server.
• Dont have too many staff! For example , i did this in my first server where 90% of my players where staff so i didnt have a stable community!
