Devouch, my friend joined the server and opened a ticket asking why they were using the same slogan as Avast ("the jump start your server needs"). They then denied any knowledge of what "Avast" was, even though their Discord server's welcome message was close to being the exact same. They suggested that since it wasn't copyrighted, they were free to use it, and that they came up with it all by themselves. Cal Landon get at these guys please.
Billy is also highly unprofessional and closes support tickets without asking for permission, and also believes that simply asking a question about their business is the same as starting an argument. As well as this, Billy permanently banned my friend from the server for simply asking a few questions. His spelling and grammar is also atrocious.
I'd stay away from these guys if I were you.

It's unprofessional because they copied the whole welcome text as well and changed it a little.

Like I said , all companies may have the same slogan. It's just how life is. You was complaining about someone so little and making such a big thing of it. The reason why I banned your "friend" was because i asked politely for him to stop making such a big deal of of something so little and then i closed the ticket as there was nothing more to be said. He then opened another ticket carrying on the situation and making an even bigger deal of it.

Legally, our trademark is not trademarked, and therefore could be used. However, it still falls well within copyright laws (you’re using exact written text, not written by you) which is plagiarism, and copyright infringement. If you’d like to use the statement “The jump start your server needs” without infringing upon our copyright, and plagiarizing directly from Avast, please add Avast to your in-text citation.

The only thing is that i did not copy your slogan and I have no clue where he is getting the welcome message copying thing from. The first time that I joined Avast was when he mentioned about it

I’d appreciate if you could change your slogan. Regardless if intentional or not to copy, it’s infringing on our copyright as you are directly stealing our slogan. Rather than trashing your thread, I can remove these comments once it is changed. Just DM me whenever.

Trademark is on a market basis. You can trademark “no u” for your say, food company, but a company based on the real estate market can use it. You’d be wanting to copyright “no u”, but you won’t be able to as it isn’t original enough to copyright.
