Hello,

I got my first bit of experience with IT running a Minecraft server back in 2013. It's been 10 years since I have interacted with the community and so much has changed! I'm curious and interested in dipping my toes back in to the scene as a freelancer. I currently have a full time job as a DevOps Engineer, with a ton of experience in Azure. Is that a useful skill that I can apply to the game server administration market?

Thanks!

I just want to say that Yes, your experience in Azure can be useful for managing game servers, including Minecraft servers. Game servers often require a similar set of infrastructure and deployment patterns as traditional web applications. In particular, Azure's cloud computing platform offers a range of services and tools that can be used for game server hosting, such as virtual machines, containers, and Kubernetes.

As a DevOps Engineer, you likely have experience with infrastructure as code, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, monitoring, and scaling. These skills can be valuable for game server administration, where reliability, scalability, and automation are important factors.

In addition, if you have experience with networking and security, that can also be beneficial for game server administration, where security and performance are critical.

Overall, there is a growing market for game server administration services, and your experience in Azure and DevOps can certainly be useful in this space. You may want to consider joining online communities or forums related to game server administration to learn more and network with potential clients. My Macys Insite
