Hey there, im just interested in this.
Namecheap is basically the only website i have my address and real name on, but is it safe tho? I know theres whois protection and stuff but still im not sure if it is a 100% secure.

Yes, however whois protection can just hide it, they usually do a super cheap plan for a year

if I remember correctly it was $14 or so for a year, which is quite affordable. I wish my host had told me about it in their privacy policy though, that my data would be publicly available online just by filling it in on their site (neither their Privacy Policy nor their TOS mentioned this in a clear way). wouldve saved me some panic

I know namecheap usually offers a year free if you buy the domain from them, however it looks like its only 3$/y from namecheap

hm interesting. Did you look at the actual domain on whois? I paid for the privacy protection via my site host too, but it still showed up (fucking scam, charged back via paypal then).

Yeah, i'm still on the free year from purchasing my domain and it has whois guard when I WHOIS the domain. Sorry, I don't know if I should quoting you or if there's a @ system here, I don't frequent often.
