Disallow paid shoutbox advertising

Ever since this kind of service hit the market, the shoutbox has become more and more cluttered with adverts which are literally being sent the moment the 15 minutes are up.

It's annoying as before these kind of services were around, people were generally able to have a spontaneous conversation yet now the people running these advertising services all seem too familiar - and for one reason: their annoying advertisements.

You should only be allowed to advertise threads that you own, or are directly affiliated with. (e.g. business partner).

finally I can soon unblock some people.
even tho I do wish it could be a complete ban on any advertizment to a thread that you don't own. "business partner" seems like a title you could easily give to someone and how is staff supposed to know if the person is a legit business partner or not? Cant a person just tell someone that they are now business partners and pay him to advertize it in shoutbox? gray zone is bad zone.

You will not be able to advertise products that you yourself do not own or have the right to redistribute.

Here's the exact phrasing of the rule:
"3.6 Do not advertise products and services which you yourself do not own, have the right to redistribute, or which has previously been advertised in the last 15 minutes."

As you can see, it also prevents users from advertising products which were just advertised. Preventing walls of ad spam by multiple users in the case where multiple users have the right to redistribute the product in the thread being advertised.

There is a difference between penetrant shoutbox advertising where people can talk and signatures which everyone has. If you don't want to see signature, turn them off but you can't turn off advertising in the shoutbox.

You could simply mute people.

I don't think that will be banned because people don't get annoyed if you're advertising in your signature, everybody does almost. And anyways that wouldn't be a Chatbox rule.

I do find it interesting that the rule only extends to shoutbox messages and not to all forum-wide posts.
