Disallow posting of tagging users

Hello,

Recently I saw someone open a thread requesting a web designer. About 3 people replied, but all they did was tag another member in the community. This seems to me like a cheap way to get their post count up. I could go to like 20 threads, tag a random web designer in each one and have a free 20 posts.

My suggestion is ban this.. If a web developer is looking for work, he can easily watch the forum and it would alert him when new threads are created.

We are simply alerting said web designer that someone is looking for one if they are asleep and the post is too far back to see if when they wake up.

Watching a forum sends you an alert when the thread is created, just like the notification they would get when they are tagged.

Who says they watch the forum? I know (personally) I wouldn't because of the spam of 'Offering' threads I'd get.

Talking of spam, poor 1amdev now has 2 alerts on the same thread that I doubt he has even looked at!

Or allow it but change in CP so that it doesn't count towards post number.

I though about that.. But last I checked, you can only do it for a entire forum and people who are replying with legitment questions or even the op of the thread will miss out on post counts them.

It wouldn't be wise to disallow posts with just tags; people miss out on business. And again, as you stated it's for an entire forum only. Probably the wisest solution in my opinion, however.

Thing is, it gets spammy too. The thread that I looked at, 3/5 replies where someone tagging someone else and that thread was only up for like 30 minutes.

He'd get 1 alert. Not 2.

If you get quoted or mentioned in the same thread several times, you'll only get a alert once for each action. I'd know because this happens a lot to me.

I don't think this should be implemented. It's a marketplace, the goal of the forum is to get someone who's offering a service together with someone who's in need of a service. This helps greatly.

Post count is irrelevant. We shouldn't remove a functional thing for a irrelevant thing.
