I see so many threads now saying "Once you buy the account, it is no longer my responsibility"... to paraphrase "Once you buy the account, I can take it back and not refund you while breaking no rules. Am I the only one who finds this dumb?

My suggestion: If someone can prove the seller took the account back, that term doesn't matter.

most people can't prove the seller takes it back. The only time someone has a reason to say 'it is no longer my responsibility" is when they sell it for someone else. This wouldn't really help anything
