Discord Impersonator Checker (Character Checker)

This website allows you scan through a sequence of characters to determine if any of them are fake, i.e. characters that are not on an English keyboard.

This can come in handy since many discord impersonators exploit fake characters that appear identical to normal characters to make it seem as if they have the same discord name and tag as someone else.

Hopefully this should decrease the amount of successful impersonation attempts.

Hey guys, I've made a website that checks if a discord username (or any text) contains fake characters.

Discord impersonates can use these fake unicode characters to make their discord appear identical to someone elses, for example Zyger#1111 (real) and Zуger#1111 (fake).

make it a hidden recaptcha instead of being a noticeable one. You can change the settings in Google to fix that.

There'd only be one to check, but to get the user ID I'd have to set up a script that uses a discord token to add someone and get their ID from that, which isn't really worth the time when you would usually have the impersonator added anyway, and could right click their name and press "Copy ID" instead.

Technically no. If you can get a bot token, the Discord API will allow you to fetch basic information for any user (avatar, ID, username, discriminator). It's a rather rough road but you can.

As a side comment, you should add personal links, ie. "<url>/personal/your-id", you can send the user to the link and they can paste in another user's tag, and if the user tag and the pasted one match, it's safe, otherwise show it isn't and show the differences. It would be a nice addition

As long as you can authorize with "Bot <token>" in the header, the get request for /user/:id will work, regardless of sharing a server or not. It kind of plugs into my suggestion with the IDs.

That's basically what this does already, but you don't need to have the original discord, it checks if there's any fake characters used instead.
