What is a Discord Unicode Impersonator? Essentially, by the discord Nitro feature allowing users to change their discriminator to whatever they want. This allows people to find nearly identical characters to something like a lowercase L or other character and make their username appear identical to a standard type one. For instance

By username, these accounts are almost indistinguishable.
HOW TO PREVENT BEING SCAMMED BY AN IMPERSONATOR:
There are many ways to prevent being scammed by an impersonator. I'll be going over some of the methods I use.
1) Just send a PM via MCM. Send the user a complicated string of text. I like to use the LastPass password generator for this. I generate a password, for example "3b!K65bRy5vSr7s*!C!8" then paste it into the message body and send it to them. I ask the user to reply on Discord with the character string I sent them. Then you are set.
2) I also have a personal discord server I have plastered across my server. Users can join the server and verify that I own the server linked all over my profile.
3) For extra levels of security, if you know the user is in HypeSqaud, then you can verify they have the badge for it. You can also check the associated accounts to see if any accounts associated with the MCM account are linked. DO NOT use these methods as your only source of verification as they can be fabricated relatively easily.
4) The final, and most obvious solution. Just deal over MC-Market. I understand the messaging system is clunky, but it does work and you will not be tricked by an impersonator.
If someone refuses to verify their identity via MC-Market, DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM. There is no good reason someone will not verify their identity. If you find and impersonator, Enable Discord Developer Mode by going to
User Settings > Appearance > Advanced > Developer Mode
Right click the impersonators name and click Copy ID at the bottom. Email [email protected] with the ID and details regarding the situation. Do not get tricked by impersonators, take the extra effort and verify identities before dealing over discord.
