DiscordRewards - A new concept for rewarding players

Hi. I and Will Morrison are working on a new concept for rewarding players and making your discord server more active.

What is it about?
After you write an number of messages in a discord channel, you get a coin called D-Coin. Of course, you will first connect your in-game name to your discord account. You will have a balance for that D-Coins. After you get a minimum number of D-Coins, you will be able to redeem them in-game.

What can i do with the D-Coins in-game?
You can convert them into balance, then simply use your balance.

Why have you made this thread if the plugin is in the development state?
I made this thread because I want to know how that idea sounds to you and if somebody wants to buy it after it is released. (we currently don't know an exact price for the released version)

So I'm probably going to get alot of "bad rep" for doing this... but here's the gist qAlex wants to sell this for $30. I don't think its worth that so I'm getting quotes right now to see if I can get it made for cheaper and tell you all of the price I got quoted at.

You all can probably get this for cheaper if I can find a quote for cheaper. If you all somehow can not find it... well... maybe I'll release mine for a cheaper price and just make back the money invested into getting it coded and all.

Even if you are giving your suggestion don't try to get your own sales or something off another thread about offering it.

Anyways, the price seems high for such a simple that if all it is doing is checking for messages just because all that is doing is logging the amount of times someone sends something into a database and then converting the stats from that database into another database.

Another question, shouldn't this be more of a discord bot if it is logging mostly messages off discord and the plugin is just displaying a message? if there isn't a shop system

Hmmm, to that rule if someone wishes to report my post and say that its a rule violation sure, but I don't think I explicitly linked any threads or asked people to contact me about releasing a copy of what qAlex is making. I am glad you take my opinion though that the price is too high for a relatively simple bot + plugin combo.

Yes but that user wants to make the exact thing I'm going to do and sell it for a lower price. Does that seem fair for me?

An idea is one thing, a copied product that has been copyrighted etc etc is another thing.

But on the Bot note, you implementing any fail safes? Can't people abuse it by spamming?

I'm really not going to lie - as a developer and a person who generates ideas, using this early-stage thread as leverage to get your own money - and using other peoples' ideas - is actually really freaking low. I get there is no official patenting or copyright on this 'product', but seriously... I understand where you're coming from, but come on man. No need to broadcast it to the world as if you're the better person.

He'd likely add a cooldown or make it where it only counts every x amount of messages, or would check for if the message was sent in between another message being sent using the discord api.

Yeah that's true tbf, either that or you can earn certain amount within a time frame. /shrug/

Trust me, I definitely respect that mindset, but sadly it happens and you have to live with it.

E.g I was the first V-Bucks service on this site and a couple dozen of other people came along, most of which either scammed or failed to deliver the product.

Welcome to capitalism, unless you buy a patent and have a legal team to sue your competitor's ass. Next time don't get so worked up over the advice of toning down your greedy "just a number" price. Have a good day.
