Discord's Custom Status, how do you tackle advertisement issues?

Good morning, I was greeted by Discord's new update this morning and it didn't take long to realize that users will advertise their server in their custom status. This can be an issue for discord servers of other Minecraft servers as there will be obvious advertisements in the members bar section.

How would you tackle this "issue", is there a way to disable custom statuses on your server or edit someone's custom status on your server, or would you just straight up kick that user from your server?

You will have to kick the user from your server. There is no way to edit/disable custom statuses.

Yep, hopefully they'll add a way for server owners to have more power over that. I have edited my original post, feel free to check it out.

nah man you can't do shit about it, removing users for it isn't really cool either.

One would hope that Discord will in the near future add a feature where Discord Server Owners could possibly deny seeing it on their discord server.

Or Discord may need to just add some sort of filter to it, things that have . or www or .com etc.

Dont know why there isnt a way to disable it appearing in your server, you think they would know people would just use it for advertising

You could do this while discord is (possibly) working on an alternative.

Have two roles, a default member role and a role that’s below it (name it whatever you want) and have a discord bot auto assign/remove people that have a custom status.

It would hide the people with the custom status below your members so unless someone scrolls down a lot they won’t see it

If you don’t want to use roles the bot could simply update their nickname to a low nickname in the list like a name that starts with “z” and change it back if they try to reset it to the default so they won’t show up high in the member list.
