I did that, and I'm fine. Or rather my dad did. He never contacts me, never talks to me etc. He gives my brother new stuff (pc, phone etc) but won't buy a new pair of shoes for me or help my mom paying my furniture.

I'm just relying heavily on my mom and stepdad.

I guess it depends on the custody type and parents. Spilt custody is the worst and if you pick sides there and your parent(s) are crazy or hate your other parent, it will be terrible
