Hey guys, this is a serious question.

Do any of you have made money with MC servers? How is the conversion rate?

I know Minecraft is getting a lot more players. (still, most of them are kids)

Does a server need to be extremely big to make money or break-even?

Im have been very intrigued by this, please share your story!

I think that it's getting increasingly harder to make profitable servers from scratch unless you have a large budget, and even then it's not guaranteed to work. Established servers and owners of established servers can transfer player bases around, which allows them to grow servers, but if you are not experienced in growing/managing a server or know people that are, then you will probably have trouble getting a return on your server costs. In my opinion, the days when a fourteen-year-old with a bit of entrepreneurial spirit could make a highly profitable server from scratch with a few hundred dollars and hard work are gone. It is probably more advisable to buy a server with a decent player base and grow it nowadays. There are plenty of other things (that are much more lucrative) besides making a Minecraft server that people can do to make money online now.
