Hello MCM,

Today I'd like to bring forth the suggestion of implementing a rule that disallows users who are proven to be apart of a company from vouching for their company. Or at least make them clarify that they are apart of the company.

One recent example is this:
http://www.mc-market.org/threads/219590/#post-2356925

But I've seen this many time before, it's quite annoying and misleading.

I understand where you're coming from, but vouches help up-coming businesses, and really support them in becoming a more greater businesses.

Yes, but it shouldn't count in you're in the team?
But they could be vouching them based on their experiences. Anyone can lie about vouches, that's why it's hard to know if they're real or not.

How about we modify this suggestion to include that if you 'vouch', you have to state why you're vouching, or it will be treated as LQ post. I've only ever done this, but apparently a lot of people didn't get the message.

If someone is vouching for their own business by saying "Vouch, I'm a part of ____ and we do a great job" I think that should be allowed but acting like you're not a part of the team by saying "Vouch, made me an incredible ______" should be against the rules.

Ye, that's the main thing I'm targeting here.

It's quite deceiving, I know a few teams that tell their members "Okay, here's the thread: <thread url> go vouch for the team" and they go and say "Vouch, very nice" or something. It makes people think that they already had a few clients, and are actually good. When in reality, the leader of the team just asked people to vouch, thus making false vouches. But I agree, if someone says "I work with __ and they are very kind and patient."

It is the responsibility of customers to carry out due diligence on businesses and not trust a "vouch". A typical vouch is probably just a friend making a comment for another friend; it doesn't provide such transaction was even carried out.

Enforcing rules adds to the load. This is a difficult rule to enforce, and it probably won't be enforced if implemented which is what you need to keep in mind.

That's true.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
