TL;DR: Don't use Xsolla, they've taken approximately 10 months to pay me $400 which they owe me and I still haven't been paid the full amount.
Hey,
So when I started owning servers, I always used Buycraft & PayPal as the payment processor for donations. Over the years, there have started to be more and more players chargeback and open disputes on payments to my servers due to the toxic nature of the community.
Last year I opened a server, it was successful, however over a period of a few weeks, there were multiple chargebacks and disputes being opened and I ended up losing approximately $1k as PayPal's resolution centre is garbage and no matter how much proof you upload, because I didn't have "tracking details" I lost most disputes.
To try and combat this I heard about Xsolla, a third party payment company who accept a large range of payment methods such as PayPal, Card Payment, Gift Cards ect. They then take a small %, think it was 3% or something, and payout the remaining to either a PayPal email or bank transfer, which I thought was really good as it saves me from chargebacks and disputes in the future.
I signed up and signed all the documents and it was all good to go. Players loved it as they could use un-used gift vouchers which were going to waste, they could use card payments directly and they could use PayPal, AmazonPay, GooglePay, ApplePay and even pay using a phone number. It was very convenient at the time.
If you don't know how Xsolla works, there is a dashboard which shows you the amount of revenue you've earned, and the amount you will get paid out. There are 2 payout dates each month, end of the month and the middle of the month (Around the 15th and last day of the month). Problems started on the first payout. I was owed about $900 from them. I checked my bank account as I chose to have my payouts sent there rather than messing around with PayPal then withdrawing it like that, paying their fees and all that stuff, and noticed only the equivalent of $500 worth was paid in. So they've kept $400 which was supposedly meant to be the 3%? I don't think so, it's more like 45%... I contacted their support and after 10 months and 57 emails of weekly sometimes daily emails to my account manager I still haven't been paid the entire amount, there's about $100ish outstanding now.
I've kinda given up now so I'm not too bothered but I just want to warn people. I've heard this happen to many other server owners such as snimka who I was told was kept from thousands of dollars which he got from his servers.
Before anyone says about any small print, I read every single word of everything I signed, there were no other fees other than the 3% and 24cent or whatever it was they take from each payment before. (Currently it's now 5%).
My account manager at xsolla couldn't explain why the payments were being held from me other than "I'll have a look" and "I'll bring it up in a financial meeting this week". Honestly sounded like the excuses someone in a scam report says if they owe money to someone...
It's just ridiculous a company which has the potential to do so well has terrible customer service.
Anyway rant over, let me know if you've had any bad experiences with them!
