Do players like custom GUIS

We recently switched our server to 1.19.4. Now with itemsadder we can add some pretty amazing GUIS. Do players actually like them?

personally i hate those menus and would never play on a server that has one. it just seems too flashy and like they tried way too hard to make an impressive-looking server instead of focusing on the gameplay itself.

What about custom GUIS that are more subtle. I personally don't like them but am trying to put myself in the mind of a player

Like I said, I don't like them. I much prefer the traditional style of GUIs (a chest menu). Maybe it's bias though since I only ever really played 1.7 - 1.12

I feel mixed about it. When you have complicated menu's it could help make options easier/clearer. But sometimes I feel like its overdone and just to be flashy, that's when I don't like it.

They CAN look and work amazing, but most people make these menus badly.

Personally, no. They're irritating. It's better to go with the regular style honestly.
