Lets put it this way, where I live rent is $1,300 for a two bedroom, 750 sqft apartment. I work two jobs (along with my girlfriends one job) and we can barely afford rent. Let alone everything else we have to pay for. It could be different in other parts of the US, but for someone that is young and works their ass off it sucks.

Living in the US is only good if you're 30+ minutes away from a city with a $15/hr job (min wage is like $7.25). That way you dont end up like Clusterlife above me.

Lots of politics and unrest in the country right now.
Min wage is really low compared to cost of living.
Don't get sick. Otherwise say bye bye money.
University is overpriced unless you're going into a STEM field, in which case it is still overpriced but at least you could make your money back.

Yeah, im 17 and getting ready to get into the real world... mostly the reason why I am stepping away from minecraft.
I am scared to become an adult.

Well, it depends on what people are saying that's bad about the United States, but even for people living in more fortunate states it's still hard to live here and it frankly sucks. Everything is money here, if you don't have money then don't bother coming here cause you're either going to be poor or die cause you can't pay for life necessities and our absurdly expensive health insurance, etc.

I live about 15 minutes away from one of my jobs and make $14-17/hr. (depends what position I am scheduled for). I just live in a very desired area. Where I work is even more expensive. People from California, Oregon and surrounding areas are moving here -- and they have the money to do so. And being 18 with a brand new car and expensive insurance doesn't help. Although, I did put myself into the car situation.

It's definitely where you live. The cost of living in certain states is much more than others. For what I'm paying for rent I could probably afford to be owning a house in Georgia. But yet again money in Georgia goes a further way than it does where I am.
