Does Verringer deserve First 50 medal?

How do you define 'First 50 Members'?

  • Accounts (go mcm)

Asked for the First 50 medal today and got denied by the kind MCM staff, just wanted to see if the community agrees with me or not - not going to change anything.

MCM staff argument:
111964

111965

111967

My argument (and like.. I made the medal):
111966

111968

I did ask for the UID which would mean I would qualify according to MCM staff however Mick couldn't run the db query.
[Here was an image in which Mick provided reason for being unable to run a database query to adjust my UID, however Mick removed it.]

What do you think, is it based on account creation / number or when the member signed up?

Not sure why it would be such a hassle to give it.

Since this is a thread for opinions, I will gratefully provide mine.

We do not permanently delete accounts for any reason, because the data or account itself may later be needed.
Back when Verringer had control of the site, he decided to delete his. Thus sacrificing his user number, medal, and everything else associated with his account.
This action doesn't abide by our current policies on account deletions, but there's nothing we can do about it now.

We have rules against creating multiple accounts. However, we made an exception to our rules especially for Verringer since he would never be able to access his original account, which again, were due to his own actions.

Changing his user id back to the one for the account he deleted would screw up position 69891.
Providing him with the first 50 medal despite what must now considered his main account having the id 69891 would be confusing and inconsistent to the distribution of the medals.

It's much cleaner to explain "Unfortunately, user 1 was deleted" than it is to explain, "User 1 was deleted, he created a new account later and we allowed him to, we gave him a new id/medal for his old account as well."

We've already made more exceptions than I would have personally liked by allowing him to create a new main; but it was the polite thing to do. Now my conscience is clear, Verringer can access the site again, but that's the extent of the exceptions he will be getting.

I'm all about consistency wherever possible in the effort of promoting intuitively, or an instant and natural understanding; and shooting a first 50 medal over to a 2017 account is not consistent. It emphasizes the mistakes of our past administrators which lead to the need for a replacement account, a need for an anomaly.
Not considering the fact that most decisions will last forever is what lead to this situation in the first place.

We would not need to have a this distinction between "member" or "account" within the scope of the first 50 medal had an account not been deleted; and "members" would have been a perfectly acceptable word to use for that medal description.

MC-Market is allowed to change for what's best in the grand scheme. For example, enforcing that accounts never be deleted from our database, so things like this don't happen again.
If we need to edit the original wording for the medal from "member" to "account" to fix this anomaly and ensure the description matches our continued intended purpose for it, then so be it.
There's no reason why we would need to stick with the original phrasings when the future was not considered at the point of their creation.

You make it sound like I begged to be a part of the site and you were being generous letting me on.

Regardless, I only have one account - this one, Founder was deleted by myself. So there is no 'exception' to be made.

Well since he was in the first 50 to join the site it doesn't seem unreasonable at all to give him a first 50 medal. I don't see why you need to switch his id. Is he no longer retired staff just because this account wasn't staff but his other account was? No. He's still retired staff and should be still the first 50.
