I own a domain with the .us extension from godaddy, and for some reason they want me to pay $69 to renew it next year. Why do I have to pay that much even though I got it last year for $4? Can anyone help me or tell me what I should do?

godaddy screws users over. They make the first year cheap. when you purchase the domain the domain list it will show the price and the per yr price. With your domain the price would have been cheap but per year would have been expensive.

Remove the SSL, the chances are you really dont need it. Its only needed for secure sites, say it you are hosting your own forum etc.

See if you can get the name transfered to another registrar. I find namecheap the best, they are not the cheapest, but there prices dont just skyrocket at any time.
