A large chunk of scam reports are impersonation, and they should be removed from their profile as the person never actually did anything wrong.

sorry if this is badly worded I suck at putting my point across

Why does a scam report in which the user actually participated in a deal mean that they’ve done something wrong?
Perhaps the user who posted the scam report was being unreasonable. Should we remove those as well?

Note: The scam reports you’re referring to are almost never closed because we’ve verified that it was an impersonator. They’re closed because we could not confirm that the person the user dealt with was the accused user. There have been cases where a user will create a throwaway account to contact the user they want to deal with, or create "impersonators", all the while merely ensuring that they’re severing any conclusive connection that could be made to their MCM account.
Not everyone gets caught, but it’s important to ensure that these threads where identity could not be confirmed are still able to be reviewed by the public so that anyone looking to deal with the user knows to be extra sure that a conclusive connection is established before dealing. If future viewers have also dealt with the "impersonator" and actually have made a conclusive connection to their MCM account, we can ensure they’re banned and stop scamming our less cautious members.

I agree with this but if you get impersonated by someone your first instinct is tell to people they’re a scammer. There should be a way after it automatically deletes the post on your profile page after you show it was impersonation in the scam report.

I personally would rather it say in the report status “Impersonator” or “Identity Not Confirmed” or something along those lines. That way it’s still public but people don’t feel like someone has been involved in as many scam reports than if it just said report closed. It also serves as a very obvious reminder that this person could be being impersonated and to get more proof to confirm who you’re dealing with. I think this would be a happy medium where we aren’t really punishing sellers while the scam report remains connected to a profile.

Blaze.

Confirm on-site, or don't idrc.

I think what Kram said would work great, however, when I check the scam-report tab on my profile, the scam report that I was false-banned for and then later ruled as inconclusive evidence due to it being an impersonator isn't there.

Maybe this is a bug on my end, but I don't see the scam report there and the thread was never deleted.

Anyways, if this isn't how this is suppose to work, then yea, I'd love for this to be implemented.

Same thing happened to someone else I opened a report on, then asked for it to be closed due to him paying me back

I believe they should stay, however there should be a notice of some sort that it was an impersonation.

I honestly don’t mind if people see that I’ve been involved in scam reports regardless of the circumstances. If a user who is interested in doing business with me takes the time to research my history on this site and they see I was found innocent in any previous reports then they have nothing to worry about.
