They would most likely ragequit before they even think about donating if they find the server unfair.
If the server is fair, more people would like it... and you want people to like it so they donate man...
If not they all quit and find other servers.
Simple.
Life isn't fair and your quality of life will be depicted usually based on how much money you're able to earn.
Similar to a minecraft server where players pay to win...they are never 100% fair unless they're following the EULA which is a terrible idea in the first place. Eula makes it look like they want to make things fairer, it's just a way of controlling people.

Regarding the pricing, I'd say make your top 2 ranks quite expensive, and make all ranks below that relatively cheap and somewhat fair. Having some nice expensive ones + noticably cheaper ones gives a nice balance. Names don't matter too much, just base them around your theme and don't make them too long and complicated.
I have to disagree with you Shattered, some kids pay crazy money just to get donation perks, boosts etc. Even on quite small servers with small player bases. There are of course the players who will take into consideration what the ranks are actually worth/should they buy them...then there's the kids who don't care and just want that diamond flashing armour on generic factions etc and will literally pay anything if the server is half decent to look professional.

People are not going to randomly donate to a server because they are rich and they want to be cool, first they are going to either like the server or dislike it.

I just made a simple suggestion and all of you little kids with servers with 7 players and have ranks that cost up to $700 disagree with me.

What I am trying to say is that when people join the server they are not a donator at first, they are still a regular player until they like the server enough to donate.
If I joined a server with donation ranks like this, I would most likely quit and find a new one before I think about liking the server enough to donate.

Raging because of my opinion, very logical. Also you're referring to what you'd most likely do. So unless you're around 7-10 years old you're being inaccurate since the majority of minecraft players would be around that age and that would dictate their behaviours regarding donating to servers. Not just what you'd donate and what you think players are going to donate. You already said you were "done" with this twice and presuming random statements which weren't from me as well as presuming we are all server owners with $700 ranks because you're upset with an opinion when we clearly are not.
