The reason why I put this in was because there's a way to get easy money through buying $1 goods. If I bought $1 goods 20 times and got vouched on each, I'd have 20 rep. Then, I could ask for a $150 investment for my 'server' and scam out. I'd have earned $130. So only give rep to sellers. It's still possible to abuse, but much harder.

How about you just pay attention to reputation amounts?

This is precisely why I want to hide reputation totals, so that anyone wanting to know how reputable someone is must go to their feedback overview where all of the actual contents of the feedback are located and read what’s been written there.

I disagree with the solution this thread is suggesting, but I agree entirely with the problem it is recognizing.

The solution I would prefer, would be to further encourage that those looking to determine how reputable someone is, read the contents of the feedback they’ve received, rather than blindly evaluate them all to a being of roughly equal worth and totaling them up.

Reputation displayed on your mini-profile could be a "Seller Reputation" or a "Seller Score":

Doing this would be the best of both worlds, as to not completely remove reputation yet not to reward lots of small purchases.

Sure, the same thing can be done with selling, however, this is a marketplace where selling items or services at any price should be encouraged.

I have to disagree. In my experience, it is far more common for someone to post threads selling random junk for 1 cent for no other purpose than to farm feedback to make themselves seem more reputable when they go to make purchases.

It is a problem for sellers as much as it is for buyers. Although at least in the case of buying, the one doing the feedback farming doesn’t control the price or availability of what they’re farming, so it’s a tad more difficult.

This is a decent point, however, reputation should be displayed in some way, how it is calculated is not my decision to make, as it is a marketplace it has to support both seller and buyer; removing reputation from your mini-profile and requiring you to check their feedback would be a few clicks, something similar to this could be added.

To keep reputation easily accessible however it would require you to check the actual feedback.

A filter could be added to only show reputation worth X amount, to stop farming of small 1 cent deals. If someone was to lie about the amount (if one was given) it would just be removed from the seller's profile.

Maybe show the money total next to the vouch on the reputation screen

There is an issue with people faking the "transaction value" of their feedback. For instance, posting a value even when the deal never actually went through, but perhaps making that number more prominent will encourage that the evidence be peer-reviewed and reported. I’d be willing to try that.

Indeed. This is the only real way for us to be able to do it. Removing essentially half of the feedback people give going forward would only annoy users with no real benefit.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion
