Using 1080p to record rather than 1440p can massively improve performance, and the fps that you record within your video. However, 1080p downscaling looks really ugly on OBS, luckily for you though, I have a way to fix that. If you go to your OBS settings and set your base canvas as 1920x1080 (even while on 1440p) and you go to your preview, you can drag down the preview size in order to record in good looking 1080p, with high performance.
