Hello MC-Market,

today I've read a lot of exposing and drama threads. Now while I was reading this I just stumbled upon a great idea to make a suggestion about it. Now what this includes is basically a drama & exposure section where people just create random drama for no actual reason or just expose people for anything. Now what is the point of this you may be asking? Well let me be clear it's easier to find of course (the drama and exposing) + general discussion is just flooded with that and it's not even a discussion anymore it's just a battle between 2 people that might be in the wrong or in the good side but just entertain people without actually knowing it.

Let's create an entire section dedicated to encouraging users to violate our rules by trashing/slandering/defaming other people for the purpose of satiating their longing for attention and drama of which they can be the instigator.

Sounds perfect for a marketplace.

It seems that the marketplace is growing towards that statement. There is more and more drama and exposure that is actually more entertaining than anything else. And if that section will violate the rules of MC-Market then why aren't you guys taking actions already?

It seems that the marketplace is growing towards that statement. There is more and more drama and exposure that is actually more entertaining than anything else. And if that section will violate the rules of MC-Market then why aren't you guys taking actions already?

Its a massive task to take on and can't be solved/cracked down on in like a day... or even a week. A large community like this will always have drama sourced around it. Its up to the general community to discourage such behaviors and not lean on a paid staff team to devote more than the time they can afford out of their personal lives to deal with our shit.

It's entertaining for the people who aren't being mobbed.

There are more threads like this lately because we are understaffed and reports are backlogged. Meaning that it takes a while longer for our moderators to view the reports and remove the threads and warn the poster.
Staff applications close tomorrow, after which point we'll be promoting new staff members and work towards restoring support times.

In the meantime, try and help out the community by not participating in this atrocious behavior.

I'm not saying that this has to be solved in one specific day. But I've never seen such thread being removed or anyone being punished for it. That's why this suggestion. Just to filter it out.

I mean... isn't it a really long and fancy scam report? A public thread for everyone to just look at one person's side of the story (not saying I'm defending Luigical, I just know him as a buddy of mine and I have yet to thoroughly understand his side of it) to get an opinion and slander who is known to be active and one of "The Setups" guy on the forum.

I see where you're coming from. Be sure to accept as many staff as possible because we or need such a section or we just need more staff to handle with it.

Exposing people? I'm fine with that, it's just that most of the time it starts up a personal attack instead of something about the service. I'm surprised Justis hasn't used the phrase Ad hominem in this thread

the thing people should understand is that someone isn't going to get upset if you shit talk them. of course it would become a personal attack if they were tricked or scammed, who cares, they're acting as if someone will cry in a corner over a getting shit talked online. they're acting like it would kill the forum if they allowed toxicity or anything like that, it wouldn't.

I have like no problem with toxicity, it's just that this place is being advertised as a marketplace rather than just a regular forum. they probably wanna maintain this "business" stuff by keeping everyone somewhat friendly and if so I can understand

addressing your point the age req is 13 for the site, and someone like a kid might not be able to handle shit like that funny enough to say. I'm fourteen and can handle most shit since I literally spend most of my day watching offensive memes and shit but yah

Regardless of whatever it's branded as, called, or categorised as, here's what I think about this (and really just reiterating what others said, in addition):

• Regardless of a situation, people still have a right to privacy. By 'exposing' them, you are violating their rights to their own privacy (that is to say, their conversations for example - and yes, I know there are exceptions to this, but it depends on the depth of which they are 'exposed'). Not only that, but under the guise of a 'business' attack, a person is fully able to open up about a specific person; violating their privacy. I mean, I understand that a business may be disreputable. But you take action on that by reporting them, negative-repping them if valid, and devouching them.
• Where would the limit be on this section? Drama/exposure? Everything would just pour out of the poster, so there would be no limits. And staff already have far too much to think about and do, for the backlog and whatnot, for this to do anything. It would just be an extra thing on their plates, and believe me, that's the last thing we all want; for reports to be delayed further, for the punishment of users to be delayed further.
• It completely violates the purpose of a marketplace. Yes, people cause drama and people stir the pot on many things here, but there are many marketplaces where that occurs; it is dealt in the place and time in which it occurs, usually. However, by explicitly giving this atrocious behaviour a place to centralise itself, you completely destroy the purpose of having an open marketplace.
• Entertainment?! Like gladiator battles? Like duels? You're right, it always has been entertaining in history, looking back. That doesn't mean it's ethical or worthwhile. To do something solely out of entertainment for the masses is how you lead to things like gladiator battles. It's unethical but it brings in money; which it wouldn't here. It's unjustifiable and it's purely selfish. What about the people fighting the battle that is your entertainment? Quite frankly pathetic, if I'm being honest. People didn't get a chance to escape being a gladiator, and nor would they here.
