Introduction
Dyescape is the largest upcoming MMORPG Minecraft server ever created. With a final map expected to be over 650 million square blocks of land, 8 unique classes, and a vast set of unique features rarely ever seen in Minecraft before, we plan on becoming the best in the genre.

Who we are hiring
Dyescape is looking for someone who can create several magic related spells / skills for us. Spells should look as good as possible. We will not comply with bad quality or simply poor looking spells. The spells should also take care of hitting entities. When a certain spell hits a living entity (except armorstand, blame Mojang) it should do whatever it is suppose to do in the given context. Either damage or heal the entity. A nice special effect will be required upon hit, depending on the spell.

Payment
We will pay you per spell, not the entirety of this thread. You start on a spell, we provide you with 50% up front. After the spell is developed and you showcased it to us, you will be given the remaining 50%. After that, you start with the next spell and the process repeats itself. Prices may vary per spell. Together we will agree on a price per spell. You can expect a payment of 2,50 to 10 USD per spell, depending on complexity (everything is negotiable).

Payment will be done through PayPal, services & goods. No negotiation possible.

Timeframe
Spells should be developed within reasonable time. The deadline for each spell is 1 or 2 days max, unless specified otherwise during contact.

Development
We want the spells developed. We want the results. We do not care about how you showcase it to us. Since we will not be giving you access to our actual codebase, you will have to create a plugin of your own and showcase the developed spells to us. It is completely up to you how you show this. It could be done by binding spells to certain materials, item slots, events, whatever. You are free to showcase it in whatever way you prefer. We do prefer to see the spells in live action on a server, and not using a GIF or video. A video recording is also acceptable in case you can show every single detail of the spell (different angles, range, effect on hit, etc).

You will be using our private GitLab server. You can create private projects in there. This is where you will be storing your code. This means you should be familiar with Git. If you are a true particle master but have no experience in Git, we can arrange something else, but we prefer someone with knowledge of it.

Contact
You can contact us through various ways. We whould like to see a resume / portfolio of previous magic related stuff you've developed before. If you're interested in developing only certain spells, do contact us. Since you will be paid per spell, we can hire different people per spell.

Resume / portfolio
I later decided to add this since I got several messages from people who are completely incapable of doing this. I am looking for someone who is an expert at using particles and create real magic for me, not firing a snowball or fireball entity with a velocity of 1 and gravity set to false. I would highly appreciate anyone applying for this to show me a good looking fireball spell (without any entities (except enemies) involved, only particles).

Thanks to everyone in advance.
Yours sincerely,

Aekalix

shoot me a pm if you are interesting, will pay but we will discuss in pms

Firstly, I appreciate that the thread design here is good, and the information provided is good.

However, you are asking for complicated particle effects, and not only that but within the framework of a custom spells plugin. Since the developer is being paid per-spell, with no payment for the plugin overall, one would expect decent pay per-spell. But the fact that each spell needs custom particle effects (which, having a 100% particle-based premium plugin on Spigot myself, I can say is not easy to do well), and also some not-so-nonexistant functionality, would warrant likely at least an hour of graphics work per-spell to make them look decent, perhaps less if some of the math for the effects was redone (this is assuming you're looking for some trig-based stuff, straight lines are obviously easier).

The point being, the combination of a range of 2.5 -> 10 per spell, with no pay for the plugin itself, isn't great considering you're requiring high-quality effects, and the spell costs have to cover the plugin too.

TL;DR: I'd recommend either offering money for the plugin as well, or offering more for the spells given their animation requirements.

You misread then. We state that we want the code. Not a plugin. We want the code purely for the particles effect. The way you show it to us, either by sending the code or making some kind of plugin for yourself which we have no interest in, is up to you. That's why we pay per spell. We don't need or want a plugin. We have those ourselves. We simply need the code for the particle effect.

Therefore it is very fair offering 2.5 - 10 USD per spell. If you're good at maths this could be done fairly fast. Also, you cannot really judge since you don't know what we are requesting. Maybe some of the spells are considered easy for certain developers. And also if you read closely: You can expect a payment of 2.5 - 10 USD. Depending on complexity. If it's really complex we can easily budge. That is our main guideline though. Hence why we didn't use the word "Budget".

And if you don't want to showcase what you made by making a plugin yourself than just send us your code and we will see it for ourselves. But a lot of people have trust issues on here. So.

Thanks for your feedback, highly appreciated.

Tl;Dr: We never ask for any kind of framework. Just code for the particles. How you showcase it is up to you which may require you to code a plugin for yourself.

I'd advise to just go ahead and pay an experienced developer an hourly wage to make the patterns you need if you just need code, chances are that those that have a mathmatical ability at the level you are requesting will be higher paid anyways, your budget isn't too high I don't think.
We have already found some developers. I rather not pay developers on hourly wage without an official contract. Most of them are not able to sign contracts like that anyways. Nevertheless, thanks for your concern.

The pays a little to low for me. If you've changed your rates, or can go any higher let me know.

You do not even know that since you do not know what kind of spells we need...

You're right, I can't say for certain that this job is too low paying for me. However from just reading your post, and also prior experience, I know I'm probably right in guessing it is.

Josh, what kind of jobs have you taken $2.50?
I do not think you understand the post. We had spells which could be done within a minute or two (if experienced), according to my simple maths; if you make $2.50 every two minutes you get a hell of a payday.

Sure, but in the experience of most devs, the odds that one can reliably churn out working code at a rate of two minutes is essentially none, and seeing as you just want code, and not a working product, you must have a dev. Any spell easy enough to put out in two minutes would be codable by your dev, odds are.

Regardless, it's possible this is fair pay, it's possible it's not, we can't know for sure until we take a look. With that being said, I do have plenty of experience with the math necessary, as well as particles in general, so if you're still looking for this to be done, add me in one of my contact locations in my signature or PM me on here and we can discuss what particularly you need :)

I'd also be happy to help teach your dev the basics behind the math necessary to allow them to make the spells themselves if that's more to your liking.
