Emergency Server Maintenance: February 29, 2016

Hello everyone,

This is just a short notice announcement to let you know that we have planned some emergency server maintenance 29th of February. We have been getting a excessive amount of DDoS attacks for the past week which our infrastructure simply can't hold. As we'll be going through full server resets the expected downtime is 4 hours. We will be doing some heavy improvements on our server and software.

These upgrades should make our general server infrastructure much safer and faster.
For you techy geeks: We'll be doing a full reinstall, upgrading to PHP7, MariaDB 10+ and all other cache improvements like xCache/Redis etc.
The annoying 5 second Cloudflare browser checks will be disabled after the maintenance. If we notice it having a impact, we will enable them again.

Now you might think, 4 hours is really long! It is however it's not like MCM is usuable during the daily DDoS attacks which last several hours too.
Once the maintenance has started, we will try to keep you guys updated via our twitter as much as we can.

All updates like our reputation system, Teamspeak integration, etc will happen sometime this week one by one.

Not to criticize you or anything, but upgrading PHP and MariaDB will just make your site load slightly faster. Heck, xCache isn't even out for PHP7 yet.

You'll only make yourself more vulnerable to Layer7 attacks with those CF changes too...

We're not updating because of the attacks. We're updating as we're doing a server reinstall anyways. If we're reinstalling, might aswell update.

I would imagine it being a lag attack, kinda smart.

Take it down = MCM would fix it asap
Lag it = make everyone annoyed everyone for a LONG time

Except it has not really been that long. They are already fixing this pretty fast so it's pretty useless.

Been well over a few days for me, and a ddos would prob be ended in less then 1h.

is the DDoS attacks the reason why the site has been doing a lot of maintenance the last few weeks. Seems to be down for a bit every second day lately

Who would want to ddos mc market?
People just waste their time trying to ddos or hack something... Like if someone dislikes something why are you wasting so much time trying to ddos or hack it. Because doing that is such an accomplishment?
