omg di mods r horible i h8 u all

You mods have a duty to keep the forums clean, blah blah etc.

Now, I have absolutely no idea about how many annoying people, with the mentality of an 8 year old, you have to deal with on a daily basis, or how many replies you get saying "U WOT M8, I H8 U".

However, you people are way too serious. If somebody makes a joke on a thread and other people find it funny, what's the harm in leaving it there? Trolling and joking around are completely different things. I don't know why certain people were flaming to you earlier on but I suspect that it wasn't entirely them in the wrong. Chill out.

tl;dr
Mods: chill out.

This is a MarketPlace forum with many toxic people. The rules need to be enforced more.
This is a forum for a game with many lovely people. Nobody's a total Scrooge that requires 100% strict enforcement. Chill out. Try reading the entire post too.

It doesn't have to be 100% strict but look at spigotmc, they enforce the rules and have good ones and I have never seen toxic or scamming people there.

Rules are rules, if the member disobeys or breaks them we simply enforce the rules and do our Job.

You can't tell us to be lenient when there are Guidelines placed all around the Market. They break them? We handle it.
Of course, if you were unfairly given a punishment or such - You may always submit a Support Request Appealing it and we may sort that out with you.

Rules are rules and you're usually given verbal warning the shoutbox before being issued a warning.

Yeah. At the moment, the forums are a bit too strict.

Rules are rules and you're usually given verbal warning the shoutbox before being issued a warning.
The shout-box is lovely. Forums are a bit too sharp imo.

It seems that the vote split is 50:50 (without mods, who didn't vote), so that's a "Stay" vote. Unless the balance skews a lot, this thread isn't worth continuing.

The thread was only created today.

I usually give it a few days.

I think, generally speaking, if someone shitposts in a business thread or any sort of official/serious thread then they deserve a warning.

We have a whole section of the forum dedicated to shitposting (Off Topic) and so I don't see any reason why low-quality posting can't be contained there.

Business threads are not the place for jokes.

As for the shoutbox, I think that certain staff are very, very excessive with their moderation and that they'll just verbally warn or threaten people for almost nothing. So long as a member isn't disrespecting, harassing, or otherwise making another member of the shoutbox feel uncomfortable I think that people should generally just be left alone on the shoutbox to do whatever.

I would also like to say I think that the warning system as it applies to the shoutbox should just be changed. If someone is acting out in the shoutbox, just take away the shoutbox from them for a week. If they keep acting out after that, take it away for a month. If they still continue after that, make it permanent. I see very, very toxic members in the shoutbox all the time who have been suspended from it or received a number of warnings from it and yet still retain access despite literally nobody wanting them there.

Anyways, OP, what you should be arguing is for the reduction of rules that you disagree with, rather than asking staff to enforce the rules less harshly. They're just doing their jobs and asking them to do their jobs less effectively is moronic.

That said, I do think lately staff get out waaaaaay too many warning points for things. It seems like they give out 5 pt warnings like candy. That should change. This is a place of business and people getting suspended literally costs them money. Getting someone suspended should not be taken lightly by staff.

Maybe I'm just not active enough, or don't post enough, but I've never had a problem with staff enforcing the rules. I know what the rules are, and just use common sense when posting, the staff seem pretty lenient.

Rules should be enforced, they honestly aren't that bad.

You know what? You're absolutely right. A couple of small rule changes would benefit us all.

They aren't bad. However, some of them could be less sharp.

I get this a lot.

Trolling is against the rules, so you should avoid doing it.

Making jokes is fine in the forum games discussion and not-so-serious threads.
However, if someone is trying to have a serious discussion or trying to buy/sell something, if you're going to make a joke, you should at least give some productive contribution to the thread.

Just making jokes (and no other contribution) leads to more off-topic posts and the OP's thread gets ruined.

Nice perspective. I understand your last point but bear in mind that there's still a 50:50 split in opinions/votes, so even if you won't change anything, you should consider it.
