Now, this was suggested before, but I still see it a bit bull shit the fact that staff decline this.
First off, if you do not know what rule 1.8 is:
Code:
1.8 Do not post content which is extremely low in quality, irrelevant, redundant, unnecessary, or meaningless.
(e.g: “Looks nice, GLWS”, “Vouch, bought an {item}”)

This thing happened to me at least 2 or 3 times.
Yesterday I just looked through the forums like I always do and found this post:
50a950d0f64d88557fd0dd016f1f17c7.png

Now, as rule 1.8 is a thing, I reported it, because it was literally meaningless and was basically post farming.
1 day later I see this in my notifications:
c0983864af10785123b73d72e03d0163.png

And I was thinking like, why was it denied? it's literally a rule.
I mean, if we're allowed to comment "glws" or "nice account! :D" on every thread we want, we can basically post farm and easily get the posting medals...

I think this rule should be enforced, because if you look up "glws" in
e2f675d07734d64e703062fb8daffd67.png

You can see 24 pages of people just saying "Glws", why post farm?

glws ...

Nah I completely agree I think saying glws or vouch on a thread really doesn't help the sellers side, it just adds +1 post to the poster. I don't think I've even been compelled to buy from someone cause they have thread vouches, I usually do "background research" or buy based on the quality.

lol the first time I said glws which was a week into the site I got warned for it.
Now these people that are near veterans or well-known members on the forum get off scot-free, maybe the target the new members which are more likely to low quality post, and they dont mind active members doing it, which is a bad thing.

The reason for that is because they don't want untrustworthy members vouching people, as their vouch means little to nothing.

I was more referring to the second part of what you said
Well now that may be true, but I still feel like this rule is getting some biased inforcement based on members, I really think this should be inforced 100% for ALL users since I believe that it isn't.

This rule is enforced. I've gone ahead and located the post you mentioned, deleted it, and issued a warning onto the member for the violation of rule 1.8

The report was rejected by one of our newer additions to the staff team.
A few mistakes are to be expected when throwing new members into the staff position.
I'll inform them of the error so that it doesn't happen again.

Patience and understanding is always appreciated.

it would a staff members job to find the user, and take action

Dude, staff are not everywhere. Sometimes we need to help them find the rule breakers. if you would be a staff here, would you be here 24/7 going through every section, every thread, every post just to make sure no one is breaking a simple rule?

Completely agree! Glad Justis R cleared that up for us. I’ve reported multiple posts just like that which have been denied as well.

Indeed.

Remember what you and every other staff tell new members when they break rules and they say they don't know it? "That's not an excuse for breaking the rules" Not knowing the rules doesn't excuse the staff for not enforcing them. They should refer back to the rules to make sure and if they at all read the rules, they'd see right there in 1.8 that glws is considered low quality.

Why should staff be treated with more respect and leniency than new members? Staff should already know the rules, isn't that one of the reasons they are promoted? To enforce the rules? New members aren't here to enforce the rules, yet they're expected to know all of the rules and follow them. Staff should be expected to know the rules and enforce it and not come up with, "I didn't know it was against the rules" or "I didn't know it wasn't against the rules"

If we're expected to know the rules, so should the staff.
The issue in this thread wasn't that our staff team was unaware of the rules, it was that they were unaware of the correct process for handling a report. Being promoted to be a moderator means that you need to learn a ridiculous amount of new things and remember everything, which simply isn't possible without making mistakes. Being able to follow the rules is easy, enforcement is more difficult because there are many, many different things to do based on how a user breaks the rules.

The staff team don't say that they didn't know something was against the rules, and we know them better than anyone since we have to warn hundreds of people each month.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
