Enhance the thread preview system

Currently thread previews only work in each forums section, like this:

It would be nice to see this added to the homepage sections such as the latest message/latest post areas, as they currently do not show previews and simply show the title text like in the following images:

Alongside this, another quality-improvement addition would be to display image previews in threads instead of the text preview showing the BBCode {IMG}.

That'd just be a pain to try and stylize. I'm all for the Recent Posts and stuff, but showing anything other than text is just annoying to implement afaik.

The reason this has not yet been implemented is that it would require custom development, and we are very backlogged with development at the moment, unfortunately. While this could be useful functionality, it isn't something that would warrant our developers time when there are so many bigger and better features we could be spending our time on.
